Spotlight on South-South Publications
Committed to knowledge sharing, peer-to-peer learning and horizontal partnerships between Southern nations, South-South Galaxy, in addition to hosting a database of hundreds of development solutions, features a range of publications pertinent to South-South and triangular cooperation. This includes the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC)’s Good Practices in South-South and Triangular Cooperation for Sustainable Development, South-South in Action Series and South-South Ideas Papers, in addition to publications from other UN agencies, member states, international organizations and other development partners.
Good Practices in South-South and Triangular Cooperation for Sustainable Development compiles development solutions from the global South that are relevant to the implementation of the SDGs. These good practices illustrate the central tenets of effective South-South and triangular cooperation, including initiatives that have been piloted and scaled up to address transnational development challenges and benefit a great number of people in two or more Southern countries. The compilation of good practices aims to benefit developing countries and partners that seek to scale up South-South and triangular cooperation initiatives, in particular with respect to widening the application of policies, strategies and programmes.
The South-South in Action Series, launched by UNOSSC in 2016, is facilitating the building of a knowledge bank of South-South initiatives by countries and partners. It provides governments international organizations, and non-state actors an opportunity to share their own narrative of their undertakings in South-South and triangular cooperation. The series is very informative and offers a window for development partners to learn from each other and recognize opportunities for collaboration .
The South-South Ideas Papers is a research series produced by the South-South Global Thinkers Initiative – a global coalition of think tank networks for South-South cooperation, supported by the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The research papers in this series disseminate an extensive and cross-disciplinary breadth of knowledge, evidence-based analyses, independent intellectual debate, as well as inspiring policy recommendations on South-South and triangular cooperation for the achievement of the SDGs.
