Mom's Cream Cheese Mints
  • 1 8 oz package cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 1 2 lbs bag of powdered/confectioners sugar.
    • (you may not need the whole bag)
  • Food flavoring (peppermint, almond & vanilla)
    • about 1/4 tsp or to taste
  • Food coloring
  • Granulated sugar
Place cream cheese in a large mixing bowl. Using an electric mixer, start adding powdered sugar until you reach the consistency of play dough. This will probably be slightly less than a 2 pound bag of powdered sugar. If the dough is sticky at all, keep adding powdered sugar.
Add a drop or two of flavoring and mix to incorporate. Add more flavoring if desired.  Place equal portions of the dough into separate bowls. Add desired food coloring and mix well.
To make mints, take a marble-sized portion of dough, roll it in granulated sugar, and press into a mint mold. Remove mint by inverting the mint mold. The mint should pop right out. Repeat with remaining dough. Store in fridge until ready to serve.

Quilt of Month - Iris Quilt - Charlotte Holle
Collection of Month - Yesterday's Child  - Ruth Benton

QUILTERS!

Charlotte Holle is displaying her “Iris” quilt during the month of May.  Along with the quilt is the diamond painting of an iris inspired by the quilt.

MJB Library is inviting area quilters to share their quilts for a month.  We have had several people contact us already and have filled months up to April 2022. Let us know if you are interested in being added to the schedule for 2022.

If you are interested in participating, please contact MJB Library at 641-747-8110, email mjblib@netins.net or stop by to view the current display.  Your quilt will be hung on a wood-press quilt holder on the wall or a small quilt rack for a smaller quilt. If you have more than one quilt to share, please let us know.  If there is a history behind the making of your quilt, we would like to share that with the public as well.

Thank you for allowing us to display the beauty and mastery of this art form throughout the coming months.

COLLECTORS!

Ruth Benton is sharing her collection of "Yesterday's Child" during the month of May.  Enjoy her display next time you come into the library!

The library would like to showcase some of the many different collections that Guthrie County residents have in their homes.  In the past our glass display case has had wood carvings, sea shells, “Little Women” plates, “Cows on Parade” and tractors (among other themes).

If you would like to share YOUR collection, please call us at the library 641-747-8110 or email us at mjblib@netins.net.
