FEED CLEANSE: Ominous Positivity

A Facebook page that literally threatens you with a good time. For some of us, it’s the kind of motivation we need.

💋

Two panels of a comic. In the photo above, a man holding a sword points at the viewer and says "You better start loving yourself." In the bottom panel, he says "or I'll do it for you".

EROTICA

A screenshot of a tweet from @crissles. The caption reads "when you f**k around and find out". It shows two pictures of disgraced police officer Derek Chauvin, one before the guilty verdict was announced, and one after.

THAT VERDICT THO

I hope this verdict sets a precedent in the minds of people who are called to juries in the future. And whether or not you become a socialist in the same vein and praxis as me, I hope you let yourself further radicalize in this moment. America’s “power” runs on capitalism fueled by white supremacy and imperialism, full stop, end of discussion, and we’re damn near a fascist police state right now. Power concedes nothing without a fight. The thing is, the fight isn’t always physically violent. Sometimes, the fight is getting to know your neighbors intimately and working with them to create a loving community that needs minimal policing. Sometimes the fight is giving direct aid to mutual aid networks. Sometimes the fight is apologizing to your children, or in front of them, so that they know what that looks like. Sometimes the fight is just being a safe space for others to show up truthfully, and letting your ego die daily in the face of truth. White supremacist capitalism thrives off of the lie of scarcity, the myth of individualism. We are primates, and we need each other, and there’s nothing weak about that.

ESSENTIAL VIEWING

Don’t come to me trying to talk about S**T concerning politics until you’ve watched this 4-part docuseries. It’s hard to watch. It’s enraging. It is accurate and it is true and it is a labor of true love. Take as much time as you need. Knowledge is power. It’s playing on HBO, on-demand on HBOMax, and I hope it becomes required viewing in every history class globally. Comes with resources and a syllabus for you to do some deeper digging once you’re done. Watch this with your family, your friends, please spread the word.

BY THE WAY! If there’s anyone in your life that you think might enjoy the tidbits in this email, don’t keep it to yourself, forward this to them! Til next time… 🌹
