Over the past few months, we've changed how we share information with our community! Instead of one long e-newsletter, we now send two short emails each month. One with a monthly highlight of three things we'd like you to know and another with the stories and the people of Fairmount. In previous months, we've introduced you to some Faces of Fairmount. You've met one of our Students, our Marketing Assistant, and a handful of our Volunteers. Today, we would like to share two Stories of Fairmount...

Love and a Prayer

You've likely seen the prayer wall in the hallway at Fairmount Ministries & Coffee Co. It's a wonderful space to leave a prayer card or take one to pray over yourself.

Recently, we came across a prayer request from an adult child asking for prayers that a kidney donor be found for their mother. At the bottom, written in a different hand, a Fairmount guest wrote a reply.

Keep in mind, a lot of things need to fall into place for this to happen. One being we have to be able to connect these two. We reached out to the number on the card, and it just so happens the potential donor is one of our students, but we have absolutely no idea who left the request!

Click here to read our blog post that shares more of this story and help us to make a connection between the person who left this prayer request and the person who responded. Fittingly, April is Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Month. We share a bit about Organ Donation and what our Christian faith says about it too.

Newton's Third Law

One of the three things we included in this month's Three Things You Need to Know was The Perk. It's an exclusive brief email that we send out to our monthly sustaining partners. We share updates, stories, prayer requests, and provide a coupon to the coffee shop as a way to say thanks for your love and support.

We asked a couple of our monthly sustaining partners to share why they give monthly. Below are some thoughts from one of our alumni and active Young Adults about why they choose to support Fairmount each month. Her words were touching and a reminder of why our passion at Fairmount is Campus and Young Adult Ministry! It is also a reminder for all of us reading her words that we can positively impact our world, and that impact can create a domino effect.

"I can't believe that it's been 8 whole years since I moved to Wichita as a Freshman at WSU! Finding a loving church community was an immediate priority, and I didn't have to do more than cross 17th street to find that at the Lutheran Student Center/Fairmount Ministries. The Fairmount family has continued to support me well after I walked across that stage (twice). Newton's 3rd Law says that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. I continue to give my time, talent, and treasures to Fairmount because they have given so much of theirs to me over the years. They will continue to support students and the community the same way they have for the past 60 years."

Currently, we have 27 individuals & families that support our ministry monthly. Six of these monthly sustaining partners are young adults/college students. These young people bless our ministry with nearly $400 each month.

We could not continue to do our ministry without the generosity of our faithful donors. Please consider making Fairmount Ministries a part of your planned giving.
