Wellington SCL will no longer have the capability to send or receive faxes from 1 June 2021.
As a referrer, if faxing is the only way you have been receiving results, you will be required to provide us with an email address (see below).
Using the WSCL Éclair Clinical Data Repository (CDR) or a Patient Management System (PMS) is the recommended safest way for a referrer to receive patient results. We do not wish to simply swap faxing for email unless there is no better electronic alternative.
All results that are deemed critical and require immediate action will continue to be phoned through to the referrer. Results will be available in WSCL Éclair CDR and the referrer’s PMS as soon as they are available. It is the responsibility of the referrer to check results on a regular and timely basis.
What do referrers need to do next?
- If a referrer has access to WSCL Éclair CDR or a Patient Management System (PMS), no action is required.
- If you currently only receive results via fax, you will need to setup an email address.
Referrers Unable to Access WSCL Eclair CDR or Electronic Reports
Printed laboratory reports will be the default until those referrers have access to electronic result messaging via WSCL Eclair CDR or HL7 messaging into a PMS.
