Dear LMC Families and Staff,

Today the guilty verdict in George Floyd’s case brought an overflow of emotions.  As a Black Caribbean-American woman, discussions about race are always emotionally draining, but unavoidable.  These discussions are necessary as we unpack years of institutionalized racism that have stained our country and left us broken.   And at LMC, these discussions are even more critical so that students and staff of all ethnicities feel valued, know that their experiences matter, and are given tools and strategies to be anti-racist.

In response to this verdict, tomorrow during office hours, we will provide a space for staff and students to come together to process their feelings, ask questions or just listen to other members of their community.  All are welcome to join this Listening Circle!

Below are some resources to help you begin or continue discussions about race and racism at home.
