Scripture Readings
April 25th: the Fourth Sunday of Easter
As we celebrate the work of the CtK Caring For Creation team, we welcome as our guest preacher Dr Diane Jacobson, Professor Emerita from Luther Seminary. Our worship draws on the image of the good shepherd—and specifically on the relationship between the shepherd and the sheep, one of mutual knowledge and love, that gives the shepherd authority. The shepherd’s willingness to lay down his life for the sheep shows his love. The much beloved 23rd Psalm also paints a picture of God as a shepherd who leads, provides, protects, and abides with the sheep.

Readings: John 10: 11-18 // Psalm 23

Update: An Invitation to Help
The work continues!
Shared by Kisten Thompson, Member of Christ the King's Racial Justice Work Group

An update from last week's invitation to donate items for the Twin Cities Interfaith Chaplain's network: I received a few donations - thank you so much! I delivered them to St. Paul Reformation Lutheran Church. The volunteer at the church was very pleased to receive the donations and said they had been coming in quite steadily. The pictures are of my car trunk with CTK's donations, the outside of St. Paul Reformation with their strong statements of who they are and their mission to serve and care, and the donation room at the church.

The needs in Brooklyn Center continue!

Keeping our Tanzanian Partners
in our Hearts & Prayers

Christ the King has a long, loving partnership with the people of Tanzania. Our connections include our companion congregation, Nduli Parish in the Iringa Diocese, as well as the Arusha Lutheran Medical Center, the Huruma Centre, and several secondary and post-secondary schools. We thought you would want to know that their country is in a time of transition following the sudden death of their country’s president, John Magufuli, last month. He had been president since 2015. Tanzania’s vice president, Samia Suluhu Hassan, has become their new leader. She is both the first woman president of the country and also the first president from the island of Zanzibar. She is known affectionately as “Mama Samia.” Among the challenges awaiting her is one we can all understand – facing the coronavirus pandemic.

Our Tanzanian partners faithfully pray for us here at Christ the King. The CtK Global Mission Team asks you to pray for our Tanzanian partners during this time of transitions and new challenges. Please lift up Pastor Nuru and the people of Nduli Parish, their former pastor, Medson Chengula and his family, and our friends in Tanzanian schools and hospitals. Pray, too, for their new leader, asking God to bless her with wisdom, insight, and the support of her country.

5. Support for people who are handicapped or disabled. The State Fair vaccination site is only for certain zip codes, but it does allow the option for handicapped/disabled persons to get vaccinated in your car.  You just have to let the sentry at the gate know of your issue.  Research before you go!

Remember: the vaccine is free. You may be asked for health information, but you will not be billed. As always, talk with your health care provider or visit the CDC website if you have questions about your particular needs.
