Dear Friends and Colleagues,

In the past month, key figures in Government have shown a complete disregard for the experiences of marginalised people in the UK. From the much contested Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities which claimed there is no evidence of 'institutional racism' to the Home Secretary misleading Government on the lack of site provision.

We are living in particularly challenging times, when key Government figures gaslight and deny the experience of structural injustice faced by minority ethnic communities, including Gypsies, Roma and Travellers. We stand with our colleagues at Runnymede Trust who educate and expose inequalities, in the face of opposition.

We have been heartened by acts of solidarity across the country, including support for Gypsies and Travellers from parliamentarians in discussions around the Policing Bill and to those taking part in a protest in Pleck in support of a transit site. Keep writing to your MPs and asking them to stand with Gypsies and Travellers - they're listening!

Warmest wishes,
Sarah Mann

Update from our casework:

“This month I have been making furniture funding applications for multiple clients to Glasspool, Children in Need and the League of Helping Hands. This furniture has included beds, chests of drawers, cookers and fridges and more, where circumstances dictated that individuals couldn’t afford them. After two years of social services involvement, we have also supported in the reunification of a family.”
