The PTSA is pleased announce that Grimsley was awarded a SPICE grant in the amount of $1,000 this past week by the Guilford County Council of PTAs to cover costs for our recent school beautification event, the “Grimsley Glow-Up Day." Big thanks to our treasurer Michele Alvarino for writing the grant application and to our VP Palmer McIntyre for planning the event! 

We are still looking for volunteers for the coat check at the Grimsley Prom taking  place on Saturday, May the 22nd from 8:00-11:30 p.m. in the Grimsley Grove. This is a great opportunity to see our students all dressed up and having fun, as well as have some fun yourself! Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. Cheerleading Tryouts
It’s that time of year! If you, or anyone you know, are interested in trying out for the Grimsley Cheerleading Team, there will be an interest meeting held April 28th, 2021, in the storm shelter. Ultimate Frisbee Club 
The Ultimate Frisbee club will meet on Thursday nights from 6:30-8:30PM on the track field. Please see Mr. SanGeorge in room 408 for details. 

 

Vocal Music Auditions – April 29th 
In-Person auditions for next year’s Vocal Music ensembles will take place Monday April 26th through Thursday April 29th. Students not currently enrolled in Chorus should make an appointment to sing for Mr. Johnson on Monday or Tuesday after school. Audition materials are available outside the chorus room 714 upstairs in the Music Building. All students interested in auditioning for our internationally acclaimed Madrigal Singers must be available for a group audition after school in the Chorus Room on Wednesday, April 28th, from 4:30-5:30. Join “Vocal Motion” Show Choir and the Madrigal Singers as they bring back the magic in the 2021-2022 school year! Students can now also pick up materials for our Modern Band class. Contact Mr. Johnson for a tour of our Modern Band classroom today!

Final Exam Testing Schedule 
May 17th – 19th will be remote days.

· Morning exams will be from 9-12 and afternoon exams will be from 1-4. 

· Makeup exams will be scheduled by the teacher. 

May 21st – 28th 

· The only students on campus will be EOC test takers. 

· Students will only have 1 exam per day and will be able to take both their CTE and EOC exam.

School Starts at 9:40
School starts at 9:40 this year. All students should be on campus and in their homeroom by 9:40 a.m. Starting on Monday, April 19th, if you are not in your homeroom by 9:40 you will be marked tardy! 

Remote students should still participate in homeroom by logging into their email each morning at 9:40 a.m. 


Prom!
Grimsley is excited to announce that we will be hosting a Junior/Senior Prom for our students this year! All rules and regulations provided by the CDC and GCS Health Department will be followed and enforced. This event will be held outside, and masks will be required. More information about purchasing tickets and specific event details will be coming soon.

Time: 8:00pm to 11:30pm 

Location: Grimsley’s Grove 

Theme: A Night Under the Stars 

**Please note that there is a separate event hosted by some senior parents on June 5th. We are not affiliated with that event at all.


Graduation – Save the date!! Note date change 
Mark your calendars. The Class of 2021’s graduation will be held at the Greensboro Coliseum on Tuesday, June 8th at 4:00pm. Practice will be Friday, June 4th at 9:00am. To ensure all social distancing guidelines are followed, each Senior will be given 5 tickets for family members to attend. 


Important Update About Assignment Deadlines for 4th Quarter
Starting this quarter, ALL assignments must be submitted within 7 days! If the assignment is not submitted within 7 days, your teacher(s) may not accept the assignment or may give a late penalty for submitting the assignment late. Check with each of your teachers to find out about their late policy for fourth quarter! 

 


Attention all 10th graders: PreACT Makeup available 
Did you miss the PreACT on Tuesday, April 7th but would like the opportunity take it? There will be a makeup PreACT on Tuesday, April 27th. You must register for this test. Parents of AP students!! 
Mr. Barnard has sent out several emails outlining the exam procedures this May including a required survey to complete if you wish to take your exam virtually. This was sent to each student's school email address and should have been communicated through their AP teacher via CANVAS and TEAMS. This information is also on the Grimsley website under the AP/IB Programs button at the bottom (center) of the home page. You can also find the exam schedule there for your convenience. If you have any questions - please email Mr. Barnard ASAP. 

ALL IB exams will take place on campus. They will be in-person, on paper. 

 

Grimsley’s Blue Literary Magazine

Our yearbook order has been placed. First come, first serve for the 35 remaining books.  The price is $80.00. 


Summer Job Opportunity 
Greensboro Parks and Recreation is hiring for all aquatics positions for Summer 2021! 

Training is FREE and pay starts at $15 an hour. You must be at least 15 years old to apply. Please take a look at the job board to see all available positions. Please have your student log in to their AP Classroom at myap.collegeboard.org and double check that they have "joined" each of their AP Classes using the join code provided by their teachers. Learning Hubs are BACK!! 
We are pleased to announce that we are bringing back our learning hub for seniors. The learning hub will be open each evening from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm and on the weekends for seniors who need assistance in meeting graduation requirements and passing their classes. Meals and transportation will be provided to students who attend. We will have teachers and support staff in place to help you with your courses and answer any questions you have. 

If you are interested in attending the learning hub, please get in touch with an administrator for details! In order to ensure that we have enough meals, you will need to register with an administrator! 


Senior Survey 
With graduation approaching, it is time to complete your senior survey. To do this, you need to go to Grimsley’s website and click the link at the bottom left side of the home page. This information is used for state reporting on our graduating class. The survey will take 5 minutes to complete. 


Class of 2021 Signs 
All Seniors will get a Class of 2021 Sign this year. We only received our partial order for the Cap & Gown pick up but will have the rest in soon. We will make an announcement with instructions for when you can pick up yours once the rest of the signs have arrived. 


Best All-Around Male and Female Graduate 
Each year, the senior class votes on the Best All-Around Male and Female of the class. It is the most prestigious award given at Senior Awards. It is a serious award and needs to be treated as such. Be thinking about your votes for the one male and one female who best represents Grimsley High School’s Class of 2021. There will be voting updates later. 

 

Scholarship Information 
Seniors, please make sure you are visiting the Grimsley Scholarship page via the Counseling link on the school website. New scholarships are being posted frequently. 

 

Senior Yearbook Ads
There is no longer any ad space available in the yearbook.  

Parents, please pay for senior ads if you have yet to do so. Make checks out to Grimsley Yearbook, and mail them to the school at the attention of Diane Creech or Christina Ericksen.
