Weekend Worship: See the Resurrected...On the Road to Emmaus!

This Sunday, we "See the Resurrected" hide himself, only to reveal himself. On the Road to Emmaus, Jesus walked and talked with two disciples who were distraught and confused. With patience, Jesus opened not only their eyes, but also their minds and hearts! In those moments when our heads are spinning, Jesus comes to bring clarity. In prep for worship, read through Luke 24:13-35 (Click here to read). Worship takes place on Saturday at 5:30pm and Sunday at 8:00 or 10:30am, with the 8:00am service streamed at youtube.com/martinlutheroshkosh.com or facebook.com/mloshkosh/videos

Bible Study Info

There will be no Bible study this week as there is an open forum between services for ministry discussion (See below).

Voters Meeting - May 2nd

There will be a forum between services to discuss the recommendation from SLB to call a 2nd grade teacher from the assignment committee for a one year call. We will also discuss budget items and a plan for capital improvements.  After the 10:30 service, we will conclude with a formal voting process on ministry items.

Ascension BBQ

40 days after Jesus rose, he ascended into heaven. This is an event to celebrate because of what it means for us! On Thursday, May 13, we will have an Ascension Devotion and BBQ: Smoked chicken, sides, and dessert along with great fellowship!  Festivities will start at 5:30pm, under the Oak as long as weather cooperates. Please help us prep by signing up at church or on this online form

Summer Schedule and Procedure Changes

The Worship Committee recently met to discuss the summer schedule, being mindful of typical summer attendance trends, changing needs for social distancing, and pastor's schedule. During the summer, there will be two changes: 1) Saturday worship will move to Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm; 2) Sunday worship services will be held at 8:00am and 9:30am. This schedule will begin on Memorial Day weekend with the first Wednesday worship service on May 26th. At that time, we will also resume singing at all worship services.

Additionally, the office will generally be open 8:00-Noon, Monday-Thursday, but it's always good to call to confirm availability. This begins May 28th.

Procedure: Seating has changed in recent weeks: If you prefer to have distance between you and others in the pew, the left side of the church will continue to be every other pew. The right side of the church is fully open. In addition, there is no longer a need to register in advance for worship or Lord’s Supper.

Church & School Lawn Mowing Volunteers Needed

Our church / school lawn is growing again, which means volunteers are needed to cut the grass each week through October.  The first week’s mowing has been handled and we now need 4 volunteer teams to cover the month of May

If you are looking for a great excuse to get out of the house for some exercise and fresh air, please consider organizing a team to help.  On occasion, 1 volunteer has handled a week by themselves, but what works best is to recruit 2 to 3 individuals (family or friends) and work as a team.  The congregation owns 3 riding mowers, a walk behind mower, 2 weed-whackers, and has reusable yard waste bags (for sticks) for the team to use, so everyone can keep busy.  Equipment instructions are available to facilitate a safe experience.

Teams typically do their mowing in the back half of the week (Thurs – Sat), so that the grass growth is somewhat consistent between cuttings and our property looks sharp for the service weekend.  A mowing schedule / volunteer sign-up sheet is available in the Narthex or you can call the church office at 920-235-1612 to get on the schedule.   We are asking for volunteers to organize a team, pick out an open week that fits your availability, and sign up early for this service opportunity.

Please note that help is needed already next week, the week of May 2nd, and for each of the following 3 weeks in May.

THANKS in advance for volunteering your time!!!  If you have questions, please feel free to call.
