We opened both bottles this weekend and can't recommend highly enough!
The wines and why we love them:
The Rouchet: harmonious marriage of clean rusticity and a mix of red and dark fruit, expressive of a sensational vintage and only $36 a bottle!
The Nebbiolo: elegant perfumey aromatics, almost commands you to linger on the nose forever, with inviting soft herbal notes layered with savory red fruits. Incredible palate feel, perfectly generous in its own nature and only $45 a bottle.

Established in 1854 by Antonio Scarpa, the winery began its fame under Mario Pesce in the 1960's.
Located in the Monferrato Barbera region, Scarpa was very much part of the original gang who brought Barolo and Barbaresco to the respected status we all know.
An Estate that inspired such as Giacosa, or Gaja, who themselves have become legends.
What is most unique is that the current winemaker has over 50 vintages under his craft, and by Scarpa signature, all varietals are made in a way that carries them through the years untouched by time.
This is easy to understandwhen it comes to Nebbiolo, but perhaps less, when bottlings of the House Signature Rouchet are laid in the cellar for decades to come. Forced to call it Rouchet simply because they stand outside the Rouche land, Scarpa manages to also stand alone at the top with a Rouchet bottling that embraces both clean rusticity and freshness of an impacted vintage.
So we say, buy some to drink now and lay the others down in the cellar and revisit!
