The Brainerd Public Library was established in 1899 and was a founding member of the Kitchigami Regional Library system in 1969. The Library's mission is to bring people, information, and ideas together to enrich lives and build community.

The Brainerd Public Library building is now open for Grab & Go service and we offer contactless pickup serviceOur outdoor book drop is open and our WiFi (KRLS Patron) is on 24/7 and available in the parking lot. Read on for the virtual events and services we currently have to offer!

The Library will be closed for Memorial Day: Monday, May 31, 2021.
GRAB & GO
Grab & Go service is back! Grab & Go, also known as “short browsing sessions inside the library,” is available Monday through Friday—see hours at right. During Grab & Go, come on in to pick up requests, browse (the stacks are fully open) for up to 15 minutes, use the public internet computers or get assistance with brief reference questions. Please note: anyone in the library building must wear a mask (face shields alone are not enough) and follow social distancing guidelines.

ANNOUNCEMENT
Library Parking Lot to be Resurfaced
April 26-May 7, 2021

Starting April 26, 2021, the Brainerd Public Library Parking Lot will be unavailable due to a city resurfacing project. Parking will be available on South 5th Street, as well as Maple Street (located between South 5th and South 6th).  Please see the link below for a map of the parking locations. Regular Grab & Go hours will continue and curbside appointments will be available. The book drop will remain open as well. Thanks for your patience during this project.

WINE AND WORDS
Wine and Words
August 18-20, 2021

Wine and Words 2021 tickets will go on sale at 12:01 am on May 1, 2021. The event, featuring Lorna Landvick, Fiona Davis, Sheila O'Connor, Greer Mcallister, Juliette Fay, and William Kent Krueger, will be 3 days this year, with a virtual option available. All ticket sales will be online; we are unable to accept cash or check at this time. To purchase tickets, please visit the Wine and Words website.

The Friends of The Brainerd Public Library book sale is open for shopping, at the Westgate Mall, on Tuesdays between 9 am-3 pm. No appointment is necessary. Masks are required for entry. Please enter through the service door at the front of the mall (door labeled Book Sale).

The Brainerd Book Club will meet online via Zoom on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at 1 pm for our next book discussion of Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi. "Ghana, eighteenth century: two half-sisters are born into different villages, each unaware of the other. One will marry an Englishman and lead a life of comfort in the palatial rooms of the Cape Coast Castle. The other will be captured in a raid on her village, imprisoned in the very same castle, and sold into slavery." We're now offering WiFi hotspots for checkout! These small devices use cellular towers to provide a WiFi internet connection just about anywhere. They check out for 4 weeks and come with everything you need to use them. Call the library or search the catalog for "Hotspot" to request one today!
