School Building Closures Due to COVID
Please Be Vigilant
Middle and High Schools Especially Impacted
In Jeffco, we recently had to close a middle school for 2 weeks due to multiple COVID outbreaks. Over the weekend, our district had 45 new student cases and almost all of them were at our middle and high schools. We now have several more schools very close to hitting the threshold that requires an entire school to be closed for 2 weeks based on the guidelines in Jeffco's quarantine process. These 2-week closures mean no in-person activity of any kind, including classes, sports, extracurricular activities, etc.
We know that moving middle and high schools to a remote status -- requiring no in-person activity for a 2-week period -- would be disappointing, especially at this time of year. But it is up to the community to ensure this is not necessary. Please remain vigilant with mask-wearing and hand washing, and ask your children to limit social gatherings outside of school. Taking these steps helps us avoid school building closures. We can do this! There are only five weeks of school left! Hang in there and follow public health best practices and protocols and we can enjoy an almost normal end to the 2020-21 school year.
Read CDPHE's guidelines for school outbreaks here, and Jeffco's quarantine process here - page 3 describes criteria for building closures.

Warren Tech's Culinary Arts and Farm-to-Table programs have a commitment to sustainability. Both programs source their produce largely from ACRES Farm, Warren Tech’s urban farm located on the Central campus. They started a compost program this year and are getting a freight farm up and running that will use hydroponics and vertical farming techniques to reduce the amount of water used to grow plants!
