FORT MASON FLIX: Music, Magic & A Film Festival
|
FORT MASON FLIX continues in the first half of May with musical misadventures, magical interludes, teen angst, and a fun film festival celebrating Asian American stories. Join a bug circus with Pixar's delightful A Bug's Life and cruise through the racy streets of Europe in Cars 2, also from Pixar. A different kind of road race thrashes through the post-apocalyptic Australian Outback in The Road Warrior, Mel Gibson's ticket to glory after amazing the world in Mad Max.
Teenagers are dominating the landscape in John Hughes' The Breakfast Club and Disney's remake of Freaky Friday (2003). Adults behave like teens in Barb & Star Go To Vista Del Mar, written by and starring Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumulo of Bridesmaids fame.
Dark magic, fantasy, and horror deliver astonishing thrills with Disney's Maleficent, starring Angelina Jolie as a forest fairy who goes to the dark side when anger turns her into an avenging witch. Even more scares await in Blade (1998), when immortal and all-powerful Wesley Snipes defends humans from evil vampires.
Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with The Mexican Museum's screening of La Bamba. More music is on the bill with a rare screening of Pink Floyd: The Wall, a surreal account of semi-fictional characters inspired by Pink Floyd's album, The Wall.
See all the listings below and at EventBrite and FortMason.org/FLIX. Make the drive-in your one-stop entertainment experience with movie-night dining and beverage options from Fort Mason Center For Arts & Culture resident groups, including Equator Coffees Cafe, Greens Restaurant, Goody Cafe, Off The Grid, and The Interval At Long Now. Happy Earth Day to all!
