Getting angry at those we love, or are tasked to help, is not helpful.
Awareness is one of those things we all think we inherently utilize, but that is not always the case. So many of us on paths that include mindfulness and self-care take for granted that awareness comes with that work. That, however, puts the cart in front of the horse.

Forcing a change in our lives can be a great and healthy step towards our own personal growth, like when we are aware we are unhappy in a situation and forcefully remove ourselves from it.

Awareness allows us much more insight along the way so that we don't wind up in a situation that needs force to rectify. In the terminology, I use this is
Recover From = Forced
and
Recover To = Awareness

There are times when forcing a change will allow us space to grow in our awareness. Noticing that we are unhappy, or would like a change, is awareness and should be acted upon. From there we can continue to add awareness so that we don't just begin the cycle again.

Awareness leads us to avoid painful or toxic relationships, and situations as well as do those things that are considered self-care naturally and without effort. Can you imagine? Learn more about awareness and how to add more of it to your daily life in last weekend's episode of the Recover Yourself Podcast where I spoke with Dr. Duston Morris.
