Student Immigration - Managed Hotel Quarantine Bursary

As you will know the University has been monitoring the Covid crisis in India and other seriously affected countries and has decided to offer a bursary to all 'Red List' students, who are required to enter/re-enter the UK on or before 3 July 2021 and who will be required to pay hotel quarantine fees of £1750. The bursary is worth 50% of the hotel quarantine fee.

In the first instance, the bursary is being restricted to 20 red list students who may be required to come to the UK on or before 3 July 2021 for one or both of the following reasons:

OR

  • b) Because you are required by your academic department to fulfil compulsory in-person academic requirements, which take place on or before 3 July 2021

Please note that compulsory in-person academic requirements will have been communicated to the students previously by the department and will be due to specific academic course requirements, or the requirements of statutory bodies. Option b does not refer to teaching/assessments which can be conducted remotely and therefore where travel to the UK would be the student’s preferred option, but not a course requirement.

To confirm eligibility for the bursary based on option b:
We are asking students to obtain and provide email confirmation from their department that their physical presence is compulsory for studies/placement during the period leading up to 30 June 2021. Please could we ask you to be aware that students from your department could be seeking your confirmation of their need to study in-person at Warwick between the period they will be arriving in the UK, and 3 July 2021. Students can apply via the bursary application form, where more information on the above options can be found.

Students will only have their bursary application processed after they have travelled to the UK and have paid their £1750 hotel quarantine fee. They will need to have a UK bank account.

For students who are affected by the UK government’s ‘red list’ and who are not required to travel for the two reasons stated above, which includes the need to travel to the UK on or before 3 July 2021:
The University is not currently providing financial support. However, we will continue to monitor the situation and the countries on the UK government’s red list, and should the University wish to extend its financial support offer, we will write to all red list country students who will complete their course in 2021. Financial support for new starters affected by quarantine fees is also being considered. The following communication listing the University support offer has been sent to all currently enrolled Indian students.

Please note that not all Student Visa holding students who have entered the UK and since left will be required to enter the UK by 21 June in order to qualify for the Graduate Route. The University is prioritising financial support to those who are required to travel to the UK imminently. Students can find more information about Graduate Route from the Student Immigration website.
