Full intersection closure at 21st Ave SW and Delridge Way SW for roadway upgrades Construction started in June 2020 and is expected to continue through 2022.

Full intersection closure at 21st Ave SW and Delridge Way SW 21st Ave SW is closed to through-traffic for roadway demolition and paving. This area is expected to reopen in mid-May. People driving should detour to SW Trenton St or SW Orchard St during these upgrades.
The slip lane (in yellow) will be local access only for residents adjacent to the road. There will be no access to 21st Ave SW from this area.

Work happening this week and next week For all work described below, residents and businesses will be notified in advance of any anticipated impacts. Dates for construction activities scheduled are subject to change depending upon weather.
This week, we finished milling the roadway between the West Seattle Bridge and SW Dakota St
Please drive carefully on the rough pavement and be aware of any raised castings
Beginning the week of May 17, we will begin sealing cracks in the milled roadway
Asphalt overlay paving is scheduled to begin as early as May 24
This work will take place from 7 PM to 7 AM
Access to driveways will be restricted for a few hours while the asphalt cools. Residents and businesses will be notified in advance of any major driveway impacts.
Sidewalk and curb ramp upgrades continue throughout Zone A
For the next few weeks, we will continue upgrading sidewalks and curb ramps in the following areas:
Eastern curb ramps at Puget Blvd SW through the end of this week
Median and pedestrian islands near Puget Blvd SW will be completed in mid-May
Sidewalks on the west side of Delridge Way SW near SW Brandon St through next week
Sidewalks on the west side of SW Hudson St and theeast side of SW Brandon St to start next week
Intersection demolition and paving at SW Orchard St and Delridge Way SW nearly complete
Next week, we will upgrade the final quadrant of the intersection
This work is weather dependent and subject to change
Some of this work may occur overnight
21st Ave SW and Delridge Way SW intersection closed for roadway upgrades
Demolition started this week and will continue into early next week
Driveways will be closed while this work takes place

We will also pour bus foundations and sidewalks in the area surrounding the 21st Ave SW triangle
The slip lane opposite 21st Ave SW will remain open to local access only
Later this month we will complete asphalt overlay paving in the area

Bus stop upgrades at SW Thistle St on the west side of Delridge Way SW rescheduled
We will begin demolishing the southwest corner of SW Thistle St this month
This work will last for several weeks as we upgrade electrical utilities and rebuild the roadway, curb ramps, and sidewalks in this area
Bus stop upgrades at SW Trenton St on the west side of Delridge Way SW continue
We will pour the roadway, curb ramps, and sidewalks into next week
Upgrades at SW Kenyon St continue
The second phase of intersection upgrades at the SW Kenyon St intersection began this week
Next week, demolition will move to the southwest corner of this intersection, with electrical installation and paving to follow
A uniformed police officer will be stationed at the intersection at all times to help direct traffic
Roadwork demolition and paving on the east side between SW Holden St and SW Thistle St
Beginning as early as May 10, we will continue demolishing the roadway in front of houses between SW Holden St and SW Thistle St
Once the road is demolished, we will upgrade the underground electrical utilities
Access to driveways will be maintained with a steel plate

Landscapers are continuing to be in and out of this area placing topsoil and upgrading irrigation in the planting strip and roadway median. This work will occur sporadically throughout the workday and will continue into May. Parking will be restricted in this area to allow us to work in the median and to shift traffic around our equipment.
REMINDER: Businesses along the corridor are open during this work. Please follow posted detour signs as you visit these businesses.
At the City of Seattle, we are continuing to follow guidance from federal, state, and local leaders and our public health partners regarding COVID-19. To keep our crews and the public safe, we have required all contractors to submit updated jobsite Health and Safety Plans to ensure that they comply with the safety and social distancing requirements in the Governor’s Order.
