Shared Spaces Permit Extensions
Until legislation provides a path for a long-term permit program, Shared Spaces is extending all current emergency permits that are set to expire on June 30, 2021 as follows:
- Sidewalk and Parking Lane: Your permit will be automatically extended. No action needed unless you intend to end your participation in the program.
- Private Lot: Your permit will be automatically extended. No action needed unless you intend to end your participation in the program.
- Just Add Music: Your JAM permit will be valid through the extension of your renewed Sidewalk, Parking Lane, Roadway, SFMTA Parking Lot or Private Lot Shared Space permit. No action needed.
- Roadway and SFMTA Parking Lots: You will need to submit a fresh application to extend your Roadway permit beyond June 30, 2021. Renewal applications will be due by May 21, 2021 on the Shared Spaces website.
Emergency permit extensions will expire on whichever of the following occurs first:
- December 31, 2021;
- 60 days after the Mayor or the Board of Supervisors terminates the emergency order authorizing the permits, or the proclamation of local emergency
If any of the following apply to your Shared Spaces location, your permit will be set to expire before December 31, 2021. You will need to remove your Shared Space at the time of permit expiration:
- There is an infrastructure construction project scheduled to begin at your location;
- A tow-away lane is being reactivated at your location;
- Your location is in a transit boarding area on a transit line that was previously suspended but is being reactivated
The GGRA is advocating to make the Shared Spaces program permanent. Please continue reading to learn how you can support the continuation of this program and request free “Save Outdoor Dining” promotional materials.
