Webinar: A Roundtable on Research Funding and Career Impacts, with IRIS and Steppingblocks — May 26, 11 a.m. ET 

Technical Director Kevin Bjorne and Research Investigator Matt VanEseltine of IRIS and Rob Gannaway, co-founder and CFO of Steppingblocks, will take part in a roundtable discussion on the impacts of academic research.

The discussion will examine the effects of the pandemic on research funding and consider how the RISE Act and other new legislation will affect research in the coming months and years.

Learn why outcomes data are important, the options for obtaining research funding, how to measure scientific research and the variety of ways researchers are using outcomes data today.

IRIS seeks post-doc for NSF project on hard and soft skills for STEM graduates 

IRIS is hiring a postdoc for the NSF-funded "Impact of Hard/Soft Skills on STEM Workforce Trajectories," a five-year project to study the effects doctoral students' training environment have on their development of "hard" and "soft" skills.

Conference: Value of Science: Data, Products & Use — June 23-24

The Value of Science: Data, Products & Use Conference is intended to advance understanding of the value of data by showcasing new data, products and use resulting from recent data investments.

The speakers, who are experts from social science and computer science, will discuss how new ways of connecting and linking data can advance the empirical basis of our understanding of the value of science. The results of the workshop will be highlighted in a series of scientific papers in the Harvard Data Science Review to both inform a future research agenda and other public data investments.

IRIS, the Coleridge Institute, the National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics (NSF), and the Harvard Data Science Review are co-sponsoring the event.
