Blount St & Person St Two-Way Conversion Project

https://raleighnc.gov/projects/blount-st-person-st-two-way-conversion-project

During the development of the Blount St and Person St Corridor Study, the community expressed a desire to have the corridor be safe and highly attractive to pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users.

The goal is to turn the Blount St and Person St corridor into a complete street, balancing the range of mobility needs by providing a place for all types of transportation.

The next phase of the corridor project includes the conversion of most of Blount and Person Streets to two-way traffic, and it also includes the installation of two roundabouts along Wake Forest Road in the Mordecai Community.

Please attend our May meeting to learn more about the project, specifically about the two roundabouts!  Our featured speaker is Reuben Moore, City of Raleigh project manager for the Blount Street Person Street Improvement Project.

Caring for our Community!

During the April MCAC meeting we focused on ways to care for our community. THANK YOU to everyone who did just that by helping out at the April 24 Mulch Day, the April 11 Pigeon House Branch Stream Cleanup, and the April 26 Cemetery Branch Stream Cleanup!  We had great groups of volunteers at each event.  Here are a few photos.

To join the MCAC Parks Volunteer List and receive emails about park work days, contact Joe and Sarah at parks@mordecaicac.org.

To learn more about Stream Cleanups, please reach out to Matt and Amanda at pelagicbeer@gmail.com

MCAC 2021

February 4 marked one year since the City Council "disbanded" the CACs. In the past year, the Mordecai CAC regrouped and is going strong. The MCAC Leadership team is open and welcomes any resident of the Mordecai Community.  Our core group of 15-20 neighbors communicates regularly to plan meetings and share ideas for citizen engagement. We'd love to have more neighbors get involved. The MCAC still uses our  MCAC boundaries which include multiple neighborhoods as well as the Person Street business district, Seaboard Station, William Peace University, Halifax Community Center, Mordecai Historic Park, site of the future Devereux Meadow Park, and more!

Email chair@mordecaicac.org for info.  All are welcome to join.

Upcoming MCAC events:

  • June 8 MCAC Meeting
  • July 4 Family Parade (hopefully!)
  • August- National Night Out (details TBA)
  • September 26 -  Mordecai Picnic!

Yard Sale Day?  We are not having the community yard sale day this spring, but hope to sponsor a yard sale event in the fall.  Please email us if you'd like to help organize that.

MCAC Meetings/Minutes
