For the week of May 9

Fire Season is Here – Wildfire season is here. As you're traveling the I-25 South Gap for a camping trip, hiking or other outdoor activity, we are asking for your help to prevent wildfires in our beautiful state! Please:

  • Check the regional/state fire restrictions and for high winds before creating an outdoor fire
  • Never leave any fire unattended
  • Completely extinguish any outdoor fire you create with water and dirt
  • Don’t throw cigarettes, other smoking materials or matches on the ground or out of vehicle windows
  • Be mindful when operating equipment outdoors that can create heat or sparks
  • Speak up and alert authorities if you suspect someone is in danger of starting a wildfire

Remember: All construction schedules described below are weather-dependent and could change.

I-25 Closures for Bridge Work at County Line
Overnight Tuesday, May 11, and Wednesday, May 12, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., crews will have closures of both northbound and southbound I-25 beneath the County Line Road bridge (exit 163) near Monument to pour the County Line bridge deck. In addition to the I-25 closures, access across the County Line Road bridge will also be closed.

Motorists will detour using the on- and off-ramps at the County Line Road interchange. For the northbound I-25 closure, motorists will funnel into one lane just south of the County Line Road bridge and use the northbound I-25 off- and on-ramps at County Line Road to navigate around the closure. For the southbound I-25 closure, motorists will funnel into one lane just north of the County Line Road bridge and use the southbound I-25 off- and on-ramps at County Line Road bridge to navigate around the closure.

For access across the County Line Road bridge, use the Colorado Highway 105 interchange (exit 161). Motorists should expect additional travel times of up to 20 minutes.

These impacts are weather-dependent and subject to change. Check our Facebook page and website for updates on this work.

Southbound I-25 Ramps at Greenland Road Closed

Overnight Thursday, May 13, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., watch for closures of the southbound I-25 on- and off-ramps at Greenland Road (exit 167) as crews complete a traffic shift. For access to Greenland Road, continue south on I-25, turn around using the County Line Road interchange (exit 163) and use the northbound I-25 off-ramp to Greenland Road. For access to southbound I-25, head north on I-25 and use the Upper Lake Gulch Road interchange (exit 167) to enter southbound I-25.

Heads Up - 12-Hour Single Lane Closure Next Weekend

CDOT is improving 18 miles of I-25 between Monument and Castle Rock by widening the highway from two to three lanes in each direction. The new lane will operate as an Express Lane, allowing motorists the choice of taking the Express Lane for a faster, more reliable travel time in exchange for a toll. Express Lanes will be free to vehicles with three or more people and motorcycles. All travelers will have the choice of taking the general-purpose lanes for free.

The $419 million project also includes shoulder widening, rebuilding bridges, new wildlife crossings, resurfacing with new pavement, improving operations with a southbound I-25 truck climbing lane near Monument and modernizing technology. Project completion is scheduled for November 2022.

CDOT also manages grant partnerships with a range of agencies, including metropolitan planning organizations, local governments and airports. It also operates Bustang, the state-owned interregional express bus service. Gov. Jared Polis has charged CDOT to further build on the state’s intermodal mobility options.
