Empowerhouse provides support, hope, and assistance to mothers in crisis who are seeking safety, shelter, and a new start for themselves and their children.

Please join me in supporting these mothers by making a special Mother’s Day Gift to Empowerhouse in honor of, or in memory of, the Mom in your life. The donations we make today can help mothers who are survivors of domestic violence and their children rebuild their lives, renew their spirits, and realize a more hopeful future. The services and shelter provided by Empowerhouse have been especially important during the past year when many were forced to quarantine with their children in an abusive home or seeking shelter.

During a year of health and safety concerns due to COVID-19, I was amazed to see our 24-Hour Hotline and domestic violence shelter remain staffed and operating at full capacity, and proud to see our staff found ways to adapt to the circumstances and safety protocols by offering vital services across all programs using phone, computer, texts, video chats. These efforts improved our ability to work with survivors and their families when we couldn’t meet face-to-face.

While serving the needs of the families in our shelter during this difficult time, staff and Board members realized we had to tackle a large project for everyone’s continued health and safety. We’ve all learned the importance of well-ventilated spaces and that applies to our 40-bed shelter too. To meet that need we’ve embarked on replacing the aging heating and AC (HVAC) system at our shelter with a new system that incorporates virus-killing technology.

The cost of replacing 5 big units of heating and air conditioning equipment is a significant expense but it will make a huge difference in the lives of the women and children safely housed at our shelter.

Please consider a gift to help mothers who are survivors of domestic violence, and their children rebuild their lives, renew their spirits and realize a more hopeful future.

Thank you!
