Digital Medicine: the Future for Healthcare,
Research, and Parkinson's
Just as technology has transformed communication, shopping, and banking, healthcare is undergoing its own digital transformation. In this presentation, Rachel Chasse, Senior Manager at MindMed, will discuss what this means for the future of health research and care. She will talk about how digital products can be used for passive remote monitoring of symptoms, and how this is helpful for both patients and clinicians. She will also discuss an opportunity to become involved in a research study involving digital products in Parkinson's.
Rachel Chasse's career began in Alzheimer's and dementia research, where she was shaped by the experiences of patients and families. From there, she has worked in a variety of medical research settings and is currently at MindMed investigating how technology can advance care. Rachel is also the Director of Innovation at the Digital Medicine Society (DiMe), a non-profit professional society dedicated to advancing the safe, effective, ethical, and equitable use of digital medicine to optimize human health.

Last May, Parkinson’s Foundation and Columbia University Irving Medical Center sent out a survey to understand how people living with Parkinson’s disease were affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Results from that survey highlighted the widespread use of virtual and telehealth services (You can read the survey results here). We would like to again hear from you about how you have continued to manage during the pandemic.
This survey will focus on your experiences getting medical care in the last 12 months related to vaccinations, in-person appointments and telehealth use and satisfaction. This survey consists of six sections. It should take 20 minutes to complete.
This survey is for people living with Parkinson’s disease. If needed, a care partner may help a person with Parkinson’s disease complete the survey. Your responses are entirely voluntary and will remain confidential.
Please complete the survey at the link provided in this email https://redcap.parkinson.org/surveys/?s=YTLH3KJLMH
If you have any questions about this study, please reach out to Matthew Surface, Study Coordinator, at ms6015@cumc.columbia.edu

Very often, the emotional, social, physical, and psychological needs of those diagnosed with YOPD are different from those diagnosed at an older age. You might be soaring in your career, expecting a baby, raising multiple school-age children at home, and/or getting ready to buy your first house. These are different concerns than those who are diagnosed much later in life have. That’s why we want to shine a spotlight on YOPD. We want you to have the education, resources, and support you need to live well with Parkinson’s no matter your age.
Join us on Saturday, June 26, where you will have the opportunity to learn from and interact with Parkinson’s experts and people living with YOPD on a wide range of topics that are unique to your situation. From the biology and etiology of YOPD to treatments, reinvention, exercise, and more, you’ll leave with a concrete plan on how to live well with Parkinson’s for many years to come. |

View the event agenda to learn more about sessions and speakers.
The Victory Summit virtual event goes beyond the screen. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage with fellow people with Parkinson's all from the comfort of your own home using a computer, tablet, or phone. Plus, you’ll meet some of our Ambassadors who are available to support you at any time. Register to join us. |
