Virtual Concert Sunday May 30th

As the world seems to be slowly coming out of hibernation, we have some exciting news to announce! In lieu of the Boston Handbell festival and our normal spring concert series, we will be releasing our first ever virtual concert on Sunday, May 30th at 7:30pm. We invite you to join us on YouTube or on Facebook while we perform a mix of socially distanced full ensemble pieces, quartets, and some of our unreleased CD recordings. We are incredibly grateful to Old South Church in Boston for allowing us to use their space to meet and record this spring, and it was wonderful to be able to experience the joy of making music together again after such a long, forced hiatus. We cannot wait to share that joy with all of you in just a few weeks, but if you aren’t able to “tune in” on the 30th, the recording will remain up so you can enjoy it at your leisure.
Despite not being able to hold the Boston Handbell Festival again this year, we will continue our tradition of donating a set of handchimes to a Boston-area school. Now more than ever, children will need hands-on music experience as schools reopen in the fall, and we are committed to doing our part to see that happen. We will announce the winner of the handchime donation on May 18th, the traditional date of the Boston Handbell Festival (the third Tuesday in May).
As a group, BBR is well on the way to becoming fully vaccinated, and while we will continue to operate in a virtual fashion for the summer, we do anticipate being able to have a normal fall and Christmas concert season. So keep checking our website and Facebook page as we announce our winter concert venues in the coming months. We also plan to continue to release music digitally over the course of 2021, so keep your eyes open for that as well. Like so many other organizations, the pandemic has forced us to change and adapt in ways we had not previously considered, but we believe that we will be stronger and better for it in the end. We hope that you are able to say the same, despite the hardships of the last year, and we cannot wait to greet you all in person again this fall!
