Our God Does Whatever He Pleases

A Note From David

Dear ones, we are so thankful to the Lord for you. We love you and are continually amazed that God has brought so many wonderful people and churches around us. We are truly blessed by your partnership and support to us in so many ways.

The government of Madagascar periodically announces the measures it has in place to slow the spread of COVID and the latest announcement on 7/27 still lists the temporary border closure—at least for the time being. As we contemplate God's purpose in this, we confess along with Job, “I know that You can do all things, and that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted” (Job 42:2). We know that “our God is in the heavens [and that] He does whatever He pleases” (Psalm 115:3). Let God be King and let us joyfully seek to please Him wherever He has us.

In terms of ministry, I want to thank those who have prayed for the times I preached in July. May the Lord be glorified as His name is exalted through the preaching of His Word. As far as progress on our future training center, Faly and I were recently able to meet for a second time with the leadership of Academics for The Master's Academy International (TMAI). They are helping us think through the most effective way to craft our expository preaching program considering the many challenges in our context. We have much work to do, but we thank the Lord for the wisdom gained from these men and for their labor of love on our behalf. I truly do look forward to all that the Lord will accomplish in Madagascar in the coming years!

Thank you for participating in this ministry. You have become “fellow workers with the truth” (3 John 8) through your amazing support to our family.
All for His Glory,
David

Ministry Opportunities

We love the local church and we're so grateful that God has allowed us to serve in various capacities. David has had more opportunities to herald the excellencies of our God through the exposition of Scripture.
Besides coordinating events for our church's Women's Bible Study, Ashley was also blessed to teach the women on the topic of sanctification in July.

A Note From Ashley

“To love God is to love His will. It is to be content with His timing and wise appointment.” — Elisabeth Elliot

The more we love God, the more we should love His will. When we love God’s will, we will be content with “His timing and wise appointment”—even when it differs from our own. We continue to await the opening of Madagascar’s borders and anticipate our family being able to minister to this island nation. Honestly, the waiting and living in limbo hasn’t been easy, but we know that our Father does all things well, so we continue to trust His divine timing.

We have had an enjoyable summer in Arizona with special family time, as well as ministering in our local church. I have been especially thankful for the times of fellowship I’ve had with the ladies and the opportunity to teach on the topic of sanctification in July. It is always a privilege to be able to fellowship, teach, counsel, and pray with my sisters in Christ.

The girls and I will begin full-time homeschooling again in early August, so I have full days ahead! I am thankful for the time we’ve had as a family to pray and memorize God’s Word together. Recently, we have been memorizing Colossians 1.

I want to thank each one of you for your continual prayers and for faithfully holding the rope for us financially as we eagerly anticipate what our great and awesome God will accomplish. You are such a blessing and encouragement to our hearts.
Love in Christ,
Ashley

Praise Report:

  • Praise God for those who continue to faithfully stand by us in devoted prayer and dedicated support.
  • Praise God for those who have offered for us to live in their homes while they are out of town. This generosity has provided a furnished place for our family to live and work while we wait for the borders to open.

Prayer Requests:

  • Pray for Faly and David as they plan the best way to set up the academic program in our Preaching Institute.
  • Pray for our family as we move today for our 17th time since being back in the States.
  • Pray for our preparations for a new year of homeschooling.
  • Madagascar 3M Preaching Institute will be seeking to raise funds for various projects this Fall. Please be in prayer for the Lord to abundantly provide for these specific needs (which will be laid out in future newsletters).
  • Pray for the Lord's perfect timing on when the borders of Madagascar will open.
All Glory Be to Christ,
David & Ashley, Isabella (age 11), Lydia (age 10), Anna (age 8), and Clara (age 6)
