It is just a few more days to Eid-ul-Fitr, and our Moslem friends can already feel the excitement and a warm feeling in welcoming this celebration.

We also hear some concerning news about the increase in Covid-19 cases in our country, caused by citizens who lowered down their guard. We are also seeing crowded shopping centers, restaurants, and other public places including many who still return to their hometowns disregarding the restrictions. Read more here. The planned Singapore Airlines’ flights to Bali which were supposed to commence this early May are also postponed.

Meanwhile, an update on Covid-19 vaccinations as of last week, as many as 12,995,710 Indonesians have received their first vaccinations and 8,317,944 people have received their second vaccination. It seems not high proportionally enough, but we are still hoping that we will not be hit by a second wave of this pandemic as India is experiencing at the moment. Hence, let’s all together keep up the safety and health protocols rigorously, do not lower our guards and do keep following the restrictions from the government in avoiding the spread of the virus. If you still need to travel however, please check on this link from Garuda Indonesia for the updated regulations.

Stay safe and healthy, and here’s wishing a Happy Eid Mubarak from all of us at What’s New Indonesia!
