TeamBlyth run like the wind at Boro!
After a spell of low temperatures, wind, rain and sleet, everyone was happy to be greeted by mild and dry conditions at the fantastic Middlesborough Sports Village for the latest NECAA Open.

This provided the first opportunity for Blyth's multi-events to compete over hurdles this year - and they delivered. Millie Train was taking part in her first race as an U17, and produced a fine performance to clock 12.88s. This was one of the only wind-legal times of the day and was a huge club record for Millie. Next up Senna Gorvett was another making her age-group debut in the U15 race, and she produced a superb attacking run to clock a wind-legal 13.5s. Abigail Huntly was also in PB mood in the U13 hurdles, her time of 12.76s however was fractionally over the wind limit. In the field, Sadie Parker was looking to build on her recent training progress in the long jump. She produced a solid series of jumps, with her best being 4.76m as she approached the competition with a great mind-set. Senna Gorvett threw the 3kg shot for the first time, recording a best of 6.27m.
Back on track and the 100m produced some fine runs, although sadly all were wind assisted so none will count as official PB's. Oscar Pichler produced his fastest ever run with 16.37s, whilst Caitlin dipped under 15s for the first time with 14.89. Abi was fastest U13 overall, with 14.03, whilst Millie Wilkinson produced a well executed race to record her quickest ever run - 12.68s was the fastest U15 time of the day.

In the 1500m Lauren was in a competitive race, and produced yet another strong run, just outside her PB with 5:13.94. Finally in the 200m, there was a another string of amazing performances. Caitlin made a huge step forward over 200m with a windy 31.60, before Millie Train set a benchmark time of 27.43s (wind legal), in her first ever 200m race, exceeding expectations. Finally, Sadie Parker continued her fine start to the season on track as she recorded a time of 26.80s, nearly a second faster than she ran last week in Manchester. Sadly, it was wind assisted so will not count as a PB.
We are only 1 weeks from the start of the NEYDL season!

As it stands we have 17 Blyth juniors due to travel down to Middlesbrough, which is an amazing number! There is still time to be added to the team.
