Dandelion determination

The mighty dandelion continues to spark debate. Why do Americans dislike the dandelion so much? Is it because of the plants annoying determination to multiply and flourish or clever marketing schemes from lawn chemical companies?

Some seem to take their loathing a bit too far such as this op inion piece depicting a world of M.O.W.’ (Murders Of Weeds) vs. D.A.N.D.Y.Z.’ (Dimwitted Annoying Nattering Do-gooder Zealots). The dandelion has even made national headlines and was criticized recently when the President picked a one for the First Lady.

This all seems to be a bit much over a plant that has so many beneficial uses. This article caught my attention this week because it shows how scientists have recently taken note of the plants extraordinary flying ability. Let's chalk this up to another win for the dandelion.
