Young Canadians' Parliament is back!

Children First Canada is excited to launch a second year of the Young Canadians’ Parliament (YCP). Through this growing movement, young people under 18 are speaking up about the issues that matter most to their generation – and sharing their views with parliamentarians.

Things to know about the YCP:

  • Children and youth under 18 may apply.
  • YCP members will work on advocacy plans with other young people. This will require approximately five hours per month between June to December, including four mandatory events.
  • Children and youth will share their learnings with other students (virtually or in person) to amplify the messages of their peers.

We need your help to spread the word! Show your support by encouraging children and youth to apply here. The application deadline is May 23. Click the button below for more information!

Asian Heritage Month
Celebrating Asian Canadians
May is Asian Heritage Month in Canada. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Asian children and their families have faced increased microaggressions and harassment. This month, we're amplifying the voices of Asian Canadians who are working hard to combat anti-Asian racism in our country. Together, we can make Canada the best place in the world for kids to grow up!

Support the mental well-being of kids
Support the mental well-being of kids
It's Mental Health Week in Canada, and May 7 is National Child and Youth Mental Health Day! This past year, children and youth have faced increased mental health challenges due to COVID-19. Wondering how young people are affected in your community? Statistics Canada and Children First Canada released an online tool in March to help Canadians better understand the impact of COVID-19 school closures. The tool includes interactive maps and data to help policy makers, teachers and parents make informed decisions about the well-being of kids.
