Third Grade Quadrilateral Cities Project

Our 3rd grade classes used their knowledge of quadrilaterals and created “Quadrilateral Cities”.  These are cities where everything from buildings, roads, houses, and parks, are built using ONLY Quadrilaterals.  Each pod presented their cities to the class, and plan to reach out to our village Mayor to see if there is a need of their expertise of  all things quadrilaterals to help redesign our village.

Great job 3rd graders!

National School Nurse's Day is Monday, May 12th!

JEN ROYALTY

SHELLY PHILPOT
National School Nurse Day is a day for people to show appreciation for nurses who are serving in a school setting.  We celebrate and acknowledge the accomplishments of school nurses and their efforts of meeting the needs of today’s students by improving the delivery and contributions to our local communities by helping students stay healthy, in school, and ready to learn.

This year was particularly challenging as they navigated through the COVID pandemic with contact tracing, quarantining, tracking and working with the county and state health department, among many other things.  The Wayne Local School District is extremely grateful to have such a dedicated, dynamic duo on our team.   Thank you for all that you do every day Jen and Shelly!

School Lunch Hero Day is celebrated today, May 7th, 2021.  Wayne Local School District has the most hardworking and best food service professionals around!  We take this week to appreciate their hard work and dedication to their jobs and preparing healthy meals for our Wayne Local students.  They have many tasks at hand as they adhere to strict nutritional standards and navigate student food allergies, all while serving up with a smile.  They are true heroes in every sense of the word and we appreciate all that they do!

The Project Excellence Recognition Banquet was held on Wednesday, May 5th, at the Manor House in Mason.  Congratulations again to Nancy Lukasavage and Patrick Hardin as the recipients of this exemplary award.

SENIOR DRIVE-IN TRADITION RESUMES FOR 2021!

The Spartan Senior Drive-In resumed in 2021 as the Class of 2021 arrived at school this morning in parade fashion, and in some very decked-out vehicles!  We saw cars, trucks (some converted to pools), boats, jet skis, four-wheelers, golf carts, go-carts, scooters, tractors, and even an airplane with a flyover!   Also check out the aerial shot of the new elementary school in the airplane photo!

Great job Seniors as your rocked it once again! Go Spartans!

Congratulations to the Class of 2021 and the guidance department for their advisory efforts, and dedication to placing information in the hands of our seniors.  So many of our 2021 graduating class members have already notified the school guidance office of their plans after graduation and we wish them all the very best of luck in their journey.  Whether our students have chosen to attend college and continued education, to serve our country in one of the branches of our armed forces, or to have a more direct path into the workforce, we wish them continued success and growth in their chosen field.

Custodial Appreciation Week is May 10 - May 14th
Please take a minute to say THANK YOU to our school custodians and let them know how much we appreciate all they do to keep our schools looking great!  They are the quiet heros of the school!  They are the first to arrive each day, clean up messes no one dares to touch and befriends everyone that passes by and then the last to leave for the day.
THANK YOU CUSTODIANS FOR ALL THAT YOU DO!

WAYNESVILLE ART SHOW 2021

The Waynesville Art Show was a huge success this week as the gym was transformed into an art gallery showcasing the works of art of our students, and even some from our staff members!  As you can tell from the photos above, there was a ton of art to show off, and the setting up, display arrangements, and tear down took a lot of work!  We were impressed and awed at the talent of our students, and truly thank our Art Department for bringing this event to our district and community this year.

Our Art Department is amazing and we thank them for their dedication, encouragement, and inspiration to our incredibly talented students.

From the 6th Grade Teachers:
As we head to the end of our school year, we are beginning to plan our annual sixth grade auction.  This is such a great event for our kids and the culmination of our incentive program.  We try to make this event as exciting as possible for the students. Not only to have some fun, but also to reward them for their hard work all year long!  We are always looking for donations towards the auction and are not picky at all about the items we receive.  If you are interested in donating any items, we would be eager to take them off your hands.  We are including a list of some of the items the kids love to bid on, so if you have any of these treasures at home or would like to purchase for us, it would be greatly appreciated.
            2-liters of pop
            Bags of chips or popcorn
            Gift cards
Stuffed animals (can be gently used)
            Games or gently used puzzles
            Candy (all kinds and sizes)
            Drink cups
            Colored pencils and markers
            Art supplies

Remember what is junk to one person is someone else’s treasure.
Please send any of your donations to the middle school, specifically room 113.

Thank you, 6th grade team
