Internal Funding Update:
Publication Grants Move to Rolling Deadline

ORD has partnered with the UNC Institute for Arts and Humanities to grow Publication Grants help pay the costs of scholarly, artistic or scientific work in any discipline in cases where publication costs are unusually high due to artwork, maps, photographs, and other special production elements. The funds are not intended to cover the total cost of the project, but to complement other financial support. The maximum award to support the publication of a book/monograph or musical/performance recording is $2,500. Awards to support the publication of a peer-reviewed article will not exceed $1,000. Funds are awarded on a competitive basis and are not guaranteed, with preference given to scholars without significant extramural support. All eligible works must be complete at the time of application, e.g., accepted manuscript, mixed and edited master recording, etc.

The New Limited Submissions and Awards Management System

The Limited Submissions and Awards team is pleased to announce the launch of LAMSES (Limited Awards Management-Support Enterprise System) the new system to apply for limited submission and award opportunities.  In addition to being a single destination for researchers to submit proposals for internal review, the system is also set up to host reviewer comments and feedback, and will eventually integrate with RAMSeS to help build out a robust institutional data picture.  We’ve assembled documentation for reviewers available at the Limited Submissions and Awards website, but if you have any questions during the launch of this system, please don’t hesitate to reach out to limited_submission@unc.edu.

Early Notice - NIH Concept Clearances and NSF Dear Colleague Letters

NIH Concept Clearances
NIH Institute Councils meet three times a year - Feb/May/Sep. The public-access portion of these council meetings includes the presentation of concepts to be cleared by the Council for writing into a funding announcement. Thus, concept clearances are the earliest notice of NIH interest in a new topic format.
Please see the March issue of FUNDamentals for a comprehensive listing of concepts cleared in February. Most NIH institutes will council meetings later this month, though some will wait until June.
