In a small, family ceremony — with limited attendance due to COVID precautions — The Citadel and The Citadel Foundation (TCF) recognized the efforts of Rick Bastin, Class of 1965, and his wife Mary Lee, that made the college’s newest academic building into a reality.

Faculty members leave the BSB
As the academic year concludes, the BSB is losing two full-time faculty members and its MBA and College Transfer Programs director. Dr. W. William “Bill” Woolsey is retiring from full-time teaching. Dr. J. Goosby Smith and Dr. Jeremy Bennett have accepted positions at different universities.

Artist begins creating original artwork for Bastin Hall
Jesse Pierpoint of Jesse Pierpoint Fine Artworks has started crafting original artwork for Bastin Hall. The pieces will honor the rich history of The Citadel and the Baker School of Business. Each piece will be personalized with elements incorporated into the art during the process, making it one of a kind.

Baker Business Bowl winners announced
It was another exciting year for the Baker Business Bowl as Team Extrusionaire won first place in the annual business plan competition. Team Solar Suck placed second.

After a short hiatus, the Baker School Entrepreneurship Association (BSEA) will return in the fall. Adjunct professor, Mark Gray, MBA, is the faculty advisor for the group.

BSB participates in a book drive
For its spring semester service project, the BSB teamed up with Reading Partners. Faculty and staff donated approximately 150 books and $250 to this non-profit whose mission is "to help children become lifelong readers by empowering communities to provide individualized instruction with measurable results."

Students named Moody Pathway Scholars
Four BSB students were recognized as Moody Pathway Scholars for the 2020-21 academic year. They are Micah Dersch (Finance major), Kian Razzaghy (Finance major) Charles Tompkins (Accounting major) and Lee Evans (Supply Chain Management major).

Congratulations to our faculty of the year, as determined by BSB students:   Congratulations to our Students of the Year, as determined by our faculty: Congratulations to those faculty members who received an Excellence Award, as determined by their colleagues: Dr. Hee Yoon Kwon was featured on WCIV-TV discussing the effects of the Colonial Pipeline shutdown on local drivers needing gas.

An article co-authored by BSB professor Cindy Bolt, CPA, M. Tax entitled “Practical highlights of recent tax research” has been published by The Tax Advisor.

Dr. C. David Shepherd’s article entitled “The Origins and Early History of Sales Training” has been accepted for publication in The Journal of Selling

Dr. Tracey Sigler co-authored a case entitled “WeWork” that was published by the Journal of Organizational Behavior Education.

Dr. Richard Ebeling was featured in a story on WCBD-TV about the economic impact of the PGA Championship, which is being held May 20-23 on Kiawah Island.

Dr. Will Money has been promoted to full professor.

Arpit Sharma, MBA has completed all the coursework in his doctoral program. He is currently working on his dissertation.

BSB student, James "Adam" Walker, won this year’s Henry Dale Smith Corps-Wide Speaking Competition with his speech entitled “Triumphant Failure.”

The Citadel chapter of Beta Alpha Psi was awarded second place in the Southeast region in the ‘Invest in Your Community’ category of the Mid-Year Best Practices Awards.

College Consensus ranked The Citadel #1 in the nation for “Best online colleges for veterans”.
