17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

2 Corinthians 5:17-20

The Coffee Half-hour is returning to Sunday mornings. If seven days without worship makes one weak, what does more than a year without coffee and goodies on a Sunday morning you make you?  I don’t know but I, for one, am glad it’s back.  Our special thanks to Adelle Bowen for her willingness and readiness.  The good news is: it is back and on Mother’s Day!  The better news is volunteers are needed.   If it is worth having back, then it is certainly worth supporting.  Please contact Adelle Bowen by email rabowen2@att.net  or phone at 470-338-7756.
We now have Sunday for almost all ages!
Keep reading for more information.
We have started Sunday School during April 19-May 23.  Any child ages 4 years to 5th grade is welcome to join us.  We meet in the library at 9:30.  Children 3rd-5th grade will remain in the library while the 4 years old thru 2nd grades will be in Mrs. Rush's room.  Bible lessons, praise songs together, a craft or small worksheet, and even spend the last 10-15 minutes outside having some playground time (weather permitting).  In the summer, we will breaking for the summer with an all new Kid’s Connection Ministry restart in the fall.

Some Sunday school classes will be moving, to accommodate the growth, as we begin coming back together!!  See below:
  • Cafeteria - Purpose Driven Life (adults, led by our seminary students)
  • Youth Room - High school Youth
  • Science Lab (upstairs) - Confirmation (7th - 8th grades)
  • Library - 4yrs - 5th grade (4yr olds - 2nd graders will move to Mrs. Rush's classroom after opening)
Note:  All adults entering the school buildings will be required to wear a face mask and have a temperature check.
The Wacky World of Water is a Vacation Bible School program that takes a fun and engaging look at water with Bible lessons that teach eternal truths, plus great games, crafts and much more. Kids will learn from stories throughout Scripture that include water—from creation, to the flood, to Jesus' baptism, and to Jesus’ walking on water…and they might even get a little wet along the way!

Sign up children to attend at https://faithmarietta.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/77/responses/new

VBS will take place on June 7th-11th from 9:00am -12pm.

Survey for the 9:30 am Service this Sunday!

Don’t be surprised when you come to the 9:30 am service if you are handed a short survey this Sunday.  The Board of Elders are thinking about discontinuing the 9:30 mask-only service at the end of May.  In June we would go back to our original 8:00 and 11:00 services (masks optional).  Before we make that decision, we would like to have some information from those who now attend the 9:30 service.  Please take the time this Sunday to fill out fill out the survey.  Place your completed survey in the Narthex offering plate as you leave worship.

(survey below)

Do you attend the 9:30 service because –

____ A service at 9:30 works out to be the best time for me

____ I attend because it is Mask-Only

If we discontinue the 9:30 service will you –

____ Attend either the 8:00 or 11:00 service (with them being Mask-Optional)

____ Not attend a church service in-person and will instead watch church services online

Social Ministry
Isn’t it a nuisance and potential fire hazard?  Share it with the World and also help us build an Atlanta area Habitat for Humanity House for a deserving family. Drop off your old paint, with your cash donation of (hopefully) about $5.00 per  gallon, at the Faith Lutheran Church Old Paint Drive and Fundraiser.

When:  Saturday, May 8th  from 9:00am to 2:30pm
Where:  Faith Lutheran Church’s parking lot, 2111 Lower Roswell Rd.Marietta, GA 30068
Please come by and volunteer an hour or two if you would like!

Faith has partnered with Habitat for Humanity as one of 10 Lutheran churches of the Lutheran Coalition for Habitat for Humanity, founded in 1993, which provides simple decent housing for lower income families, and just completed building its 32nd home.  Past years the Coalition’s primary fundraiser has been the “Taste of Habitat” gala where chefs from member churches donate their time and talents to cook and serve incredible food to gala attendees.  Last fall it raised over $30,000.  But because of Covid, there will be no in-person “Taste” this year and this Old Paint Drive will hopefully help partially fill-in and raise important financial contributions.

For the Faith’s Old Paint Drive, the Coalition and Faith are partnering with Global Paint for Charity, whose founder, Rony Delgarde, said “In developed nations the world over, garages and basements are hiding treasure troves of unused house paint. Until now, recycling or disposing of that paint was a challenge and too often pollutes the environment. We are dedicated to bringing beautiful color to under-served countries that have little or no access to paint otherwise.  At Global Paint, we believe that everyone in the world, no matter their circumstances, deserves to live in a beautiful and colorful environment. Increasing access to paint in underserved communities could improve the local economic power for millions of vulnerable families and uplift the spirit of the less fortunate individuals for many years to come. (
www.globalpaints.org).”

We need and want to accept your paint:
All Latex Paint cans or buckets must be at least 25% full of WET paint.
Paint cans cannot be rusty.
Dried paint is not accepted.
Paint thinners, stains, and spackle are not accepted.
Mission of the Month

The Mission of the Month for March, April, and May is the Red Feather Development Group, who partners with American Indian nations to develop sustainable solutions to the housing needs within their communities.

They partner with homeowners, community members and tribal partners to:

  • Repair and weatherize homes
  • Demonstrate how housing conditions impact health
  • Conduct home assessments
  • Assemble professionals, volunteers and material within the community and outside to address the most urgently needed housing needs

Today there are over 1 million tribal members residing on American Indian reservations, 40% of whom live in homes that do not meet federal standards for “adequate housing.” This compares to just 6% of the rest of the US population living in substandard housing. These conditions can exacerbate and even cause chronic health conditions, making it difficult to be productive at work or school. Not having a healthy home is a root cause of  numerous problems that put a strain on community resources.

The Red Feather Weatherization program provides free, energy saving services to low-moderate income families living on the Hopi and Navajo Reservations who are Arizona Public Service customers in order to reduce their utility bills and improve the comfort and health of their homes.

Services provided under this program include:

  • Insulation of attic, walls, and/or floor
  • Repair broken windows and doors
  • Repair damaged drywall
  • Air sealing, including weather stripping and caulking
  • Installation of water-saving devices
  • LED lighting upgrades
  • Minor roof repair
  • HVAC repair or replacement
  • Energy-efficient appliance swap outs
JUST ONE THING

Just One Thing for May is filling 225 bags for the food bank held at Brumby Elementary School. We have rocked the donations this year already! So blessed!!!! Although we have a lot set aside for these bags we are in desperate need of jelly and cereal. The food pantry will be closed on May 18th so they asked Faith Lutheran to bring food that week so that these families do not go without. Did you know the pantry also feeds 30-40 seniors every week since the senior citizen facilities are still closed due to COVID. That hits home for me.

Faith has been so giving with donated food items, just a few weeks ago we put 106 bags together for the pantry. Truly amazing. If you have time on Saturday May 15th between 10:00-2:30 to pack bags, we will be there on our Spring Clean Up Day!  If you have younger children that would like to help, we will have cards to make so we can put one in each bag as our mission to share Christ’s love! If you are available to load cars, drive bags, or distribute bags, please come to the church on Tuesday May 18th at 1:00 and I promise you will be amazed with all we have!
