The wait is over!! UYM is pleased to announce that we will be hosting the 21st Unstoppable You Conference at Faith Bible Church (located in Mechanicsville, MD) on Saturday, June 12, 2021 in a hybrid format. Yes that's right! Whether you are near or far, you can experience this life changing event in-person or virtually. This conference is appropriate for 12 y/o to adults. We are grateful to have the amazing vocals of Angela Braden, evangelical dance of Yvette Jones and Different Wings Ministry, phenomenal presentations by Lenny Lewis (Youth Empowerment), Candace Burke-Parrott (Human Trafficking Awareness), Tom and Michelle Weaver (Marriage Enrichment), Wyomme Pariss (Domestic Violence Awareness), William Tucker (Spiritual Empowerment), and LaTasha and Cameron Briscoe (Youth Entrepreneurship). In order to serve our virtual audience with the best experience ever, we are blessed to have Shanna Kabatznick as our virtual host and Amy Garelick of Pop Up Video and Virtual Events to handle the virtual production. But wait there's more! We definitely can't forget about the Unstoppable You Makeover. We have partnered with the Angel Watch Shelter to select a few of their clients for a head to toe makeover. All of this is possible because of the compassion of makeup artist Kiuana Henderson, wardrobe stylist Patricia Medley-Gibson, and hairstylist Cheritty Warren. Did You Know?
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. The ribbon color is green. It's important for all of us to end the stigma centered around mental health issues. By speaking up, we want people who face mental health challenges to know they are not alone. Unstoppable You Ministries provides emergency services and supportive resources to individuals affected by major life altering situations such as domestic violence, human trafficking, and homelessness. As you can imagine, the trauma survivors experience can be overwhelming mentally. According to the World Health Organization, women who reported domestic violence at least once in their lifetime are nearly 3 times as likely to have suicidal thoughts and 4 times as likely to attempt suicide. It's important for us to come alongside and offer compassion as well as resources for individuals to get the mental health services they need and deserve. We believe no one should fall through the cracks!
