#GrowingLeaders Blog by Craig Mattson

Thank a Teacher!

Every day teachers share proverbs for life!
Share a word of thanks with a teacher you know!
Vickie wanted to let Adventist teachers in her community know that she cared, so she put together a special care package. She is a living testimony of Proverbs 3:27 - "Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in the power of your hand to do so."

Vickie found a simple way to say thanks. And you can find your own way to actively support Adventist teachers - as Craig Mattson, Washington Conference VP for Education, encourages in this #GrowingLeaders vlog!

Conference Office Reopened!

After months of hybrid work schedules, our whole team is back in the office continuing in mission and ministry. Appointments are still encouraged!

Our ministry team loves talking with you, praying with you, and brainstorming about ministry opportunities (especially ones we like to call moonshots). Drop us an email. Give us a call. Arrange for a virtual or in-person appointment (so we can meet you at the door!)

All but one county in our ministry territory
is currently in Phase 3

Please join us in praying for the good health and wellness of all counties, and especially Pierce County where Sunset Lake Camp is located.
Connect with a Leader

No question – we are all missing some aspect of a traditional camp meeting gathering. With Hybrid Camp Meeting, the desire is to offer the next best option: sending out a livestream signal to church host sites and to your home or mobile device.

Exciting developments this week:
  • Introducing our keynote speakers!
  • A growing list of church host sites
  • Filming stories of how God changed lives in the pandemic
What to Expect

Support Emergency Relief at Home & Abroad

Disaster and Famine Relief Offering is on May 8, 2021. On this day, your sacrificial gifts will be gratefully received by Adventist Community Services and ADRA to continue our efforts in providing emergency relief to communities here at home and abroad.

ACS works with the local conferences of the North American Division and disaster response agencies to equip volunteers to serve and assist the community providing disaster assessments, sheltering services, donation management, home reconstruction, and emotional and spiritual care.

When you give to ACS and ADRA, YOU make it possible for the Adventist Church to respond immediately to help survivors of hurricanes, fires, floods, earthquakes, famines, and other crises affecting the world today.

This offering is split 50-50 between ACS and ADRA who serve in complimentary yet different humanitarian roles. You may give through your church or directly to the relief organizations.

Lacey Fosters Intergenerational Connections

Jason Canfield’s last sermon before COVID-19 pandemic closures was about being a community in Christ and not forsaking assembling together. Little did he know the extent of what the next year of ministry would entail for Washington's Lacey Church and countless others throughout the world.

“Like most pastors, I began scrambling to find ways to hold the church together and minister to my church family,” Canfield remembers. “After the first week passed, I realized that something needed to be put in place to fill the void that existed from the lack of fellowship in community.”

And then a breakthrough!

The Executive Committee of the North American Division held a business meeting on April 29, 2021 to hold elections, vote on policy, amend bylaws of the NAD corporation, and vote on a revised statement from the writing committee which, according to the document’s preamble, “addresses issues specific to the NAD, and contextualizes the [General Conference’s] ‘One Humanity’ document into the North American setting.

Washington Indonesian Church searched for years for their own church home and found a location in Granite Falls. Most of the church's 100 members live in the Everett area, so this represents a 25+ minute drive. The church is hoping to raise $20,000 to purchase a transport van to help older church family members attend with greater ease and reassurance. You are welcome and invited to participate in a golf tournament fundraiser on May 30!
