A student in the Notre Dame Academy community has tested positive for COVID-19. We cannot for privacy reasons share details about the person. At this time, they have been told to stay home and away from other people (in isolation) until they are well and can no longer spread the disease.
We have identified close contacts and that pod of students will quarantine and distance learn at this time.
If you have not been contacted, your child is not considered a close contact, and there is nothing special you need to do.
Because the spread of COVID-19 from unknown sources is widespread in Minnesota, you should continue to watch your child for COVID-19 symptoms, which include:
Fever of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher
New cough or a cough that gets worse
Difficulty/hard time breathing
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
New nasal congestion/stuffy or runny nose
Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
Muscle pain
Extreme fatigue/feeling very tired
New severe/very bad headache
Chills
If your child gets symptoms, they should stay home and you should talk with their doctor or other health care provider to decide if they need to see a doctor and/or to get tested for COVID-19. Please review the following resources:
We understand that this news may make people feel uneasy. We have taken action to clean and sanitize the building and are working closely with MDH to watch the situation. We are asking all members of our community to lower the chance of spreading illness by taking the following actions:
Protect yourself and others by wearing a face covering.
Wash your hands often with soap and water.
Cover your coughs and sneezes; do not touch your face with unwashed hands.
If you are sick, stay home from school, child care, sports, and other activities.
Clean all commonly touched surfaces often, such as telephones, doorknobs, countertops, etc.

Gertens Flower Order Pick Up
Tomorrow is the day to pick up your spring flowers! Thank you to all who ordered plants from NDA. Orders may be picked up on May 6, from 3:00 to 5:30pm, in the back playground parking lot. The flowers will be outside along the west side of the lot. Please be mindful that we do have a carpool line pick up during this time. Thank you for supporting NDA!
Marathon
Marathon is this Friday! Thank you to those of you who have solicited donations on our behalf. We are grateful to our NDA supporters! With your help, we have reached our first three goals!
$10,000 – Chocolate Milk Option at Lunch EVERYDAY ✔
$20,000 – Friday Spirit Wear Days (for the upcoming year) ✔
$30,000 – Ice Cream Truck Visit ✔
$35,000 – A Sundae Surprise from Father John and Father Paul
Our class competition is heating up! Our current leaders are 3rd and 5th grade. Remember, the grade that brings in the most donations (based on an average donation per student) will have a choice of the following prizes. We will award one class winner in grades K-4 and one in grades 5-8.
Pizza party for the class
Doughnuts and juice for the class
Popcorn and movie afternoon
Out of uniform for the last week of school
Each student who brings in at least $5 will be entered into this year’s participation drawing (one ticket per student). These winners will receive Target gift cards, and we hope to have as many students participate as possible! You may read more about Marathon on the Marathon page and donate online.
We'd like to remind everyone that Friday, is our last envelope collection day. Online donations are counted as they are received. The deadline for donations to be considered for prizes is 10:00am on Friday.
It will be helpful to send your student to school in comfy spirit wear and tennis shoes on Friday. Each class will walk and run for approximately thirty minutes at various times throughout the school day.
