Ignatian Year!

From May 2021 until July 2022, the Ignatian family celebrates an Ignatian Year marking the 500th  anniversary of St. Ignatius’ conversion to a new way of life.  Having been struck by a cannonball, Ignatius’ life as a soldier was transformed into a life of a pilgrim committed to following Christ.
For Ignatius, a life of poverty was an expression of intimacy with Jesus… More than words, his poverty was a sign of his interior transformation, of his growing indifference to preparing himself to follow God’s will, of his sense that everything came down from above as a gift.” – Fr. Arturo Sosa, Superior General of the Society of Jesus
This newsletter provides a few of opportunities for you to join with Jesuits, CLC and others in the Ignatian Family to observe this Ignatian Year!
Prayer Service on May 19th

You are invited to join the Society of Jesus and others in the Ignatian Family for “One Ignatian Community,” a 30-minute bilingual prayer service to mark the launch of the Ignatian Year.  This prayer service will be streamed live online from 7 to 7:30 PM (EDT) on Wednesday, May 19, 2021
As our nation turns toward a more hopeful future, Fr. Joseph M. O’Keefe, SJ, Provincial of the USA East Province, and others will reflect on the vision of the Ignatian Year to deepen our practice of Ignatian spirituality and find new possibilities for ourselves and for our world, to “see all things new in Christ.”
This event is free and open to all.

19th Annotation of the Spiritual Exercises August 2021 to May 2022

In honor of this Ignatian Year, CLC USA will offer the 19th Annotation of the Spiritual Exercises to members of CLC across the country August 2021 to May 2022. We are fortunate to have a team of CLC members experienced in both spiritual direction and the Spiritual Exercises to coordinate this program for us. The program will consist of monthly virtual presentations, monthly small group meetings, and weekly one-on-one sessions with a spiritual director or companion.  The cost is $250.  If interested, apply by June 15th.   It is also possible that if your whole group is interested, you can meet together as a small group during that monthly small group meeting to share on the graces of your experience.  Otherwise, you can join a group with CLC members around the country.   If you have any questions, please contact Ann Marie Brennan at annmariebrennan@yahoo.com.

                                    Ignatius 500: The Ignatian Year

We join the Society of Jesus in celebrating the 500th Anniversary of St. Ignatius’ Conversion. The Ignatian Year begins May 20, 2021 and ends July 31, 2022.  Like St. Ignatius, many of us have experienced "cannonball moments" or conversion to follow Christ.  We want to hear your stories!

Prayers for India

We have been asked by both Fr Vinod Fernandes, S.J., and Fr. Luke Rodrigues, S.J. for prayers for the people of India currently experiencing crisis due to the pandemic.  Fr. Luke reported that "the health systems are overloaded and breaking down in some places. Vaccines are in short supply; oxygen cannot be transported in time from the production units to the hospitals; and health workers are collapsing from exhaustion." The Jesuit Province of Bombay has already experienced seven deaths, and there are as many as 25 Jesuits in India who have died due to COVID.
We pray God may bring healing and consolation to all those impacted by COVID, for strength to all health workers, for donations of vaccines and medical supplies, and for hope in Jesus Christ, our Risen Lord.
