SPOOKY MEN’S CHORALE ON TOUR
As thunderous as a herd of wildebeest, as sly as a wagonload of Spike Milligans, and as sonorous as a cloister of monks, the Spooky Men’s Chorale descend on country Victoria to present a sometimes boofy, sometimes absurd, sometimes gossamer-delicate narrative through the particularities of being a bloke, musically speaking.

Performing much loved favourites from their black-catalogue as well songs from their new album ‘Welcome to the Second Half’, the Spooky Men’s Chorale have attracted audiences throughout Australia and internationally with a judicious blend of Georgian table songs, pindrop beautiful ballads, and immaculate man anthems like “Don’t stand between a man and his tool”.

Formed by Christchurch-born spookmeister Stephen Taberner, the Spooky Men’s Chorale emerged from the Blue Mountains of NSW in 2001, armed with no more than their voices, a nice line in deadpan and an ill-matched set of hats.

With six albums under their belt, they’re more masters of their territory than ever before. “We’re all ordinary men, inspired by the musical values and pointless grandeur of the Georgian vocal tradition, says Taberner, who sees the concerts as “a wonderful chance to experience powerful, tender a cappella singing, and to chortle uncontrollably, in fine regional concert venues.”
