Here is one attempt at a family picture after Easter Sunday worship service :-)  Twenty unbelieving guests came to our Easter service!

Golden Week in Japan

Yesterday (5/5), we wrapped up the Golden Week holiday in Japan.  It has the feeling of Memorial Day in the USA, with the arrival of warmer and longer Spring days, almost a kick-off to the summer season.  It's inception and name goes back to the 1950's (you can read more about it at this link.)  Basically, it's a one-week period that encompasses four of Japan's 15 national holidays.

One of the holidays is Children's Day, which you may recognize by the famous colorful fish wind-socks called koinobori.  (The are a carp that represents the young boys, based on a Chinese legend about how a carp that is strong enough to swim upstream can become a dragon.)

Unfortunately, last year and this year the Tokyo region is under a state of emergency over the Golden Week holiday, due to none other than corona virus.  Many shopping centers and eateries in Tokyo are shut down, as ordered by the government, and people are encouraged to stay home as much as possible.  Japan continues to see cases rise in its notable "4th wave" of infections.

There is room for many...

In the last email I sent, I asked for anyone to contact me that was interested in getting involved in what God is doing here.  One person did, and she is already on board and working with us to help solidify and expand our Choose Life ministry to the depressed and suicidal in Japan!

Is anyone else interested?  I'll ask it again...

If you believe the Lord is leading you to invest in missions in Japan, either by going or supporting, please email me and I can help you move forward!

Prayer for our Neighbors

We just met our new neighbors that moved in to the apartment below us.  They are Japanese, returning from an international assignment in Los Angeles, which means they also speak English.  Please pray that we can establish good relationships with them (we still haven't meet the father, but did meet the mother and two teenage daughters.)  We hope to invite them to church soon!

Coming Soon

There are many encouraging and exciting things happening here in Japan!  The Kingdom of God is advancing.  The multi-faceted nature of the growth is representative of the diversity of the body of Christ.  Over the next few emails, I hope to share with you just what is going on in missions in Japan.  Stay tuned!

Fundraising Update
At the end of 2020, we made an appeal for two things (you can read it from this link):
1) $20,000 to up-size our vehicle for our large family and
2) $1,500/mo increase in ongoing support to cover increased cost of living and the weakening USD.

As of the end of April, we have raised $15,530 towards our vehicle and an increase in monthly giving of $445.  Praise God!

THANK YOU!  We can't say it enough!  It's not too late to get on board and finish the task!  Every dollar raised helps keep us in Japan long-term and blesses the growing Church in Japan!
