NEXT UP AT CICOLAB

HOT SEAT: SCHOOL OF COLLECTIVE INTELLIGENCE (MOROCCO) MASTER PROGRAM — First of its kind worldwide
(9.15-9.30pm CET)

Lex Paulson, Executive Director
Cathal O'Madagain, Scientific Director
Azeez Hamzat — SCI Master candidate and CICOLAB member

In accordance with their mission at The School of Collective Intelligence (SCI), several key representatives will present their unique masters program. Their aim is to (a) create new spaces for dialogue and collaboration, (b) pursue goals to produce new scientific knowledge and technologies for a more sustainable society, and (c) break down barriers — geographic, intellectual, and cultural.

Further, SCI extends an invitation for more students to join their CI master, executive master, and PhD programs, in order to build strong foundations to solve global and systemic issues.

Check out their Masters program brochure.
“Our Collective Intelligence Master program is the first of its kind in the world. Over two years, students are immersed in research and practical projects that explore Collective Intelligence and how it can be applied in industry, business, and politics.

“The program contains three 'tracks' that a student can specialize in:

Cognitive Science

Computer Science and Big Data

Organizational Transformation”

CICOCULT DESIGN WORKSHOP

LAUREN LAUREN AND CULT JAM
(9.30-11.30pm CET)
This week we focus on control patterns, particular to the design, operation and proliferation of cults in modern society.

In this first installment of our Assemble-Your-Own-Cult workshop series, we begin to assess cults and meta-cults, meta- and proto-patterns, providing tools to mix and match, eventually attaining  capacity to create our own cults “from scratch”. Here’s the “cult-jam-packed” Miro board from CICOCULT leader Queen Lauren.

We’ve been brewing this for a long time, and anticipate that the process will yield insight into developing foresight tools and capacity.

GLASS BEAD GAME (GBG)
Additionally, we’ll continue to weave and explore our dialogues within the Glass Bead Game (GBG) structured conversation model, integrating it this week into our cult pattern jam segment.

GBG can be a primer for any sort of collaborative discussion or format. The use of timer and turns creates a democratic and inclusive dialogue pattern that tends to “infect” the rest of the session. It also takes people out of their own heads and into a less debate-like and more shared thinking we-space.

CURRENT INITIATIVES

Lauren Nignon presents our current vision of a CICOLAB consultancy, in a new 4-minute video.

CICOLAB & IP
Behind the scenes there’s always tons happening, far too much to report properly. Among other topics we’ve been diving deeper into business modeling and focusing around the incredible thorniness of ”intellectual property” including ancient, embedded psychological and cultural notions of ownership, how these have played out in society and industry, and how we might collectively shift our attention and aspiration into a more fully collaborative mode of equitably sharing IP in the Collaboratory. Not so simple as “open
source” and “working out loud”! It turns out that “protection” and even “defensive patenting” remain critical. On behalf of our community we are navigating these shark-infested waters with considerable care.

CATALIST-TROVE
Vincent Arena has been busy as usual, updating so many aspects of Trove. Here’s the new page for CICOLAB Mondays showing your local time and the Zoom link for handy access. Now you can click and add to your calendar. Thanks so much Vincent !!!

Revolutionary Design: Conceiving a Future Forged with Antiracist Technology

Our friend Brian Tate (brother of Greg Tate who’s been hanging with CICOLAB of late) has curated an outstanding series. This event, with a brilliant all-female panel and tremendously elevated discourse, may be considered a roadmap for so much to follow here at CICOLAB. We are hugely inspired!
