Hi all

Thank you to all who joined our health and wellbeing webinar yesterday, reflecting on the findings of our needs analysis Our City, Our Future as part of Mental Health Awareness Week. This year's theme is nature; during the pandemic 45% of us reported being in green spaces had been vital for our mental health. I hope you're able to connect with nature, wherever you are, this week.

At the beginning of June the youth workers at Westminster’s five Youth Hubs will be joined by two specialist Mental Health Youth Workers with a background in children and young people’s mental health.

Working within the multi-disciplinary team in Mind in Brent, Wandsworth and Westminster, they will rotate between the Youth Hubs and be responsible for providing mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people who attend youth clubs in Westminster.

The new roles look to recognise some of the barriers that exist for young people accessing mental health services, such as the clinical settings, and address the need for supporting young people in spaces where they feel comfortable and youth engagement is already taking place. The new youth workers will be delivering 1-2-1 and group emotional well-being sessions, supporting young people to access self-help and support as well as helping those who present with more severe problems to rapidly access more specialist services. They will be working in partnership with the youth workers at the Hubs.

With emotional health and well-being being such an important issue after a difficult year, this is a brilliant example of a new innovative model of delivery. Putting into action the recommendations from our report, in collaboaration with Members and Partners across Westminster. If you'd like to find out more about the programme, please get in touch.

Take care,

Phil
