I want to give you the full update on all the important details to know about this year's Classical Camps.
Once again, registrations will be LIVE tomorrow: Friday May 7th at 9am
But now on to the exciting details:
Introducing... Our 2021 Classical Faculty
Helena Jung, esteemed music director of the Strathcona Symphony Orchestra, is our acting Program Director, and will be overseeing the Classical Program.
We are thrilled to be hosting members of Vancouver Island's prestigious Cascadia Strings instructing the Junior String Orchestra and Virtual String Intensive
One of Canada's most exciting young pianists Carter Johnson will be leading the Virtual Piano Intensive
The joyous and accomplished Carol Anne Parkinson will be instructing Singing for Beginners and Beyond and our new Youth Vocal Intensive
And the multi-talented Jonathan May will be bringing an Orchestral Percussion Intensive to CYMC for the first time ever!
Online Instruction
The following programs will feature exclusively online instruction:
Virtual String Intensive (RCM Grade 5 equivalent and up)
Virtual Piano Intensive (RCM Grade 6 equivalent and up)
Orchestral Percussion Intensive
*Online instruction will take place via zoom
* Applicants will be asked to provide at least one video recording of a piece of their choice *
All online classes are open to students of all ages! Parents too!
All online classes will run from 10:00am-12:30pm, Mon-Fri July 5th-9th.
In-Person Instruction
The following programs will feature in-person instruction:
Junior String Orchestra ( Age 6-12, RCM Grades 1-4)
Singing for Beginners and Beyond (Age 6-10)
Youth Vocal Intensive (Age 11-17)
*In-person instruction will take place at Comox United Church, 250 Beach Drive, Comox
* Applicants will be asked to provide at least one video recording of a piece of their choice *
JSO & Singing for Beginners will run from 10:00am-12:30pm, Mon-Fri July 5th-9th
Youth Vocal Intensive will run from 12:30pm-1:30pm, Mon-Fri July 5th-9th
2021 CYMC Classical Music Festival
We will be hosting an outdoor afternoon of socially-distanced celebrations of music!
The CYMC Music Festival will be held outside on July 10th at the beautiful Anderton Nursery in Comox. Friends and family are invited to enjoy an afternoon of fresh air and fine musicianship, while students are offered the opportunity to show off the repertoire they have worked so hard on.
It will be an afternoon of celebrating the lessons and relationships built over the week's camp, and will conclude the 2021 summer program.
Registrations will be LIVE tomorrow: Friday May 7th at 9am!
