ODISSEI - NLeSC Call 2021 for research software support

The ODISSEI - NLeSC Call 2021 is open for social scientists who need technical support in developing digital technologies and research software. Researchers affiliated with an ODISSEI member organisation can submit an application for support of Research Software Engineers (RSEs) of the Netherlands eScience Center.
The deadline is 30 July 2021 at 14:00 CE(S)T. Those who are interested to apply, are welcome at the information event on 10 June from 14:00 to 16:00.

LISS Call 2021 for free panel time
|
|
The LISS Call 2021 is now open. Researchers affiliated with an ODISSEI member organisation can submit a proposal for panel time. The call offers financing for projects of 15 minutes of panel time with 2,500 respondents. In addition, the call offers financing to combine LISS data with CBS microdata. On 20 May from 13:00 to 15:00 CE(S)T, LISS and ODISSEI will host an information event for potential applicants.

Responsible Open Science workshop

ODISSEI, DANS en CESSDA-ERIC

In June, ODISSEI is running a workshop with DANS and CESSDA-ERIC on ‘Responsible Open Science - Research Data Management for Social Scientists’. The two-part workshop takes place on 14 and 17 June from 10:00 to 12:00 CE(S)T. It is designed for researchers who want to gain a better understanding of Research Data Management, FAIR data and Open Science and offers practical support for developing a Data Management plan.

The effects of spatial planning policy: the case of VINEX

What can we learn from past experience about Dutch residential planning policy? In cooperation with Utrecht University, the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL) is researching the long-term effects of the VINEX policy. With CBS microdata they constructed a dataset using the ODISSEI Secure Supercomputer (OSSC), to research the impact of the VINEX policy on the housing- and labour market.

ODISSEI has a new user policy to stimulate FAIR data and FACT research. The policy stipulates good research practices, including instructions for conducting ethical research, the use of metadata standards and data archiving. All users of the ODISSEI infrastructure should follow the policy.

PDI-SSH Call for Digital Infrastructure
|
|
The Platform Digital Infrastructure for Social Sciences & Humanities (PDI-SSH) has launched its 2021 Call for Digital Infrastructure to improve digital infrastructures in the SSH domain. Researchers can apply to strengthen or expand already existing initiatives, or to develop new initiatives. Applicants are encouraged to cooperate with existing infrastructures (ODISSEI, CLARIAH of Health-RI). There is an information event on 11 May from 16:00 to 17:15 CE(S)T Those who wish to cooperate with ODISSEI can contact info@odissei-data.nl.

On 25 June, the SHARE-Netherlands User Conference takes place from 10:00 to14:00 CE(S)T This conference brings together users of SHARE from a variety of disciplines to share and discuss research projects in the Netherlands.

Software Carpentry workshop Netherlands eScience Center
|
|
From 17 to 20 May, from 9:00 to 13:00 CE(S)T, the Netherlands eScience Center is hosting a Software Carpentry workshop to support researchers in using research software. The workshop is a hands-on introduction to basic techniques such as Unix Shell and R. Participants do not have to have any experience with these techniques yet.
