These along with other topical products, especially those containing mostly CBD are a great place to start. And it’s also a bit of novelty.

Stay smelling fresh by passing on a joint

Vaporizers are a great gift for those who don’t necessarily want to deal with the skunky smell of a joint. They are discreet and easy to use. It is a different experience than smoking and can include different flavour profiles, like floral or herbal tastes. There are some great CBD options that allow mom a chance to relax without the high.

Chocolate is a cliche gift for a reason 

There are so many delightful edibles currently on the market. From drinks to gummies and even chocolates. There is bound to be something that you can find that your mom would enjoy. These can be a fun mother's card stuffer.

Romance begins in the kitchen

How about creating a high culinary experience for your partner by adding water-soluble drops or THC powder to a nice home-cooked meal or special dessert to celebrate everything your partner does.

That’s what something called Canna Bumps proposes.

It appears to be either a scam or a joke, rather than a real product; however, it has sparked a conversation around where to draw the line, so to speak, when it comes to cannabis delivery methods.

The name Canna Bumps is a play on taking a small sniff of cocaine—aka, a bump.

“Have some fun with your cannabis with our unique cannabis concentrate. Canna Bumps are just what they sound like – cannabis concentrate designed to be consumed through the nose, ingested directly or added to your favourite food,” says the product description.

Canna Bumps was listed late last week on Leafly and Weedmaps. It’s since been removed from both sites.

The product description from Canna Bumps says it’s designed to allow THC molecules to transfer directly into blood circulation through the nasal cavity, bypassing the liver and digestive system for immediate effect.

The three-gram container is said to contain 600 mg of THC, and each 10 mg bump provides 2 mg of THC. Apparently, the kit comes with a little coke spoon.

Lemon Z by OGEN

I'm on the fence about OGEN's Lemon Z.

It's a Sativa Dominant strain clocking in at 20.1% THC.

Eighths come in a cute plastic container with a bright yellow label. Popping it open revealed it was packed to the very top with dewey and bushy buds. It came in more than half a gram overweight.

However, it lacked scent. You'd expect Lemon Z would be a burst of lemony freshness, but it was just a bit grassy.

Picking up the buds, they felt almost wet. I had to tear it apart, which is a sign of a poor cure or it got rushed out the door before drying properly. Mine was packed March 29, 2021, and has mellowed out a bit since first opening it. It's a harsher smoke—whereas dry-herb vaping is a smoother and zestier experience.

It feels overpromised with "aromas of lemon, brown sugar, and chocolate," and instead underdelivered with unscented.

Despite the shortcomings of Lemon Z, I would try something else by OGEN. This is the first of their products to become available in BC. It has had some popularity in Ontario, especially their Gas Berries flower.

Lemon Z is derived from a cross of Lemon Skunk and Zkittlez, and it has a terpene profile of Limonene, Linalool, and Caryophyllene.

Personally, I felt a strong psychoactive head high at the peak that melted into a mellow tiredness.

Spiritleaf acquired by Sundial Growers

Canada’s largest cannabis retailer is changing hands.

Sundial Growers is purchasing Inner Spirit Holdings, the company behind the popular cannabis retail brand, Spiritleaf.

Sundial will acquire all of the issued and outstanding common shares at a cost of about $131 million.

The deal has been unanimously approved by the boards of both Sundial and Inner Spirit.

It’s expected to close early in the third quarter of 2021.

SpeakEasy wants to grow magic mushrooms

From cherries, to ginseng, to cannabis—and now to magic mushrooms?

Founded by a well-rooted Okanagan farming family, SpeakEasy has applied to enter the psychedelics sector. The Rock Creek, BC, company is working on getting its Narcotics Dealers Licence (NDL), with a focus on psilocybin.
