What's up @PCF?

for the Sixth Sunday

of Easter

On Mother’s Day...

the Rev. Eleanor Scarlett of Bolton United Church invites us to remember in prayer all people who mother... or are mothered.

Rob is "away"...

on holiday this coming week. This is yet another COVID stay-cation so he will be around town but not in the office or preparing worship.

The General Committee will monitor the phone messages and email for urgent matters. Many thanks to Chuck Vandergraaf who will compose next week's "what's up". Online worship for Sunday the 16th will be directed to one of our sister congregations.

India...

is currently in the midst of a dramatic surge in COVID-19 cases, threatening their healthcare system and leaving already vulnerable families in crisis.

Immediate needs are access to health care, medical supplies and medicines, particularly oxygen. There is an urgent need to educate people on risk prevention and address vaccine hesitancy. Vaccine supply is insufficient and inaccessible to many, leaving herd immunity out of reach.

Our parent churches are responding with partners and ACT Alliance members in India to support people who are sick or quarantined at home with cash to buy medicines and provide for other emergency needs. Additionally, they will work with communities to share messages on infection prevention and control, as well as information on vaccines.

All four of our parent churches are members of ACT Alliance, the largest coalition of Protestant and Orthodox churches and church-related organizations engaged in humanitarian, development and advocacy work in the world. You can read more about their work in India HERE. You can support that work through the Presbyterian World Service and Development Agency (PWS&D), the Anglican Primate's Fund for World Relief and Development (PWRDF), the Mission and Service Fund (M&S) of the United Church, or the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC).
