Strengthening relationships through camps...
Last week at Chrysalis Class 8 headed off to the Warrumbungle's on their Ecology Camp, and this week Class 3 headed to Dorrigo on their Farm Camp.
At Chrysalis camps are an integral part of our pedagogical program and schooling life. School camps provide students with the opportunity to work with a variety of adults, that will nurture experiential education, build intergenerational relationships and result in a different style of learning. Teacher involvement is, of course, vital to every successful camp, with the bonds between students and teachers strengthened away from the classroom. On camp our students have the opportunity to form relationships through first-hand experiences with caring adult role-models and experience a sense of achievement in a supervised safe and positive environment as a result. On camp great opportunities exist to develop a wide range of social skills that strengthen established relationships and develop new ones. Camp activities always involve team cooperation, and team skills are transferred back into the classroom which helps to elevate the class to new heights on their return. These are only a few of the benefits of camp, and why we take our camp program so seriously at Chrysalis. I will be sharing more next week. Enjoy!
Thank you.

Class 3 return from Farm Camp...
Class 3 went on their first camp together this week. We camped at Dangar Falls, enjoying daily walks to the falls and walking the labyrinth located near the falls.
We visited Bien Apiary, Michael and Steffi Eppler’s biodynamic farm. We learnt about bees and visited the hives, tasted honey and worked in the garden. We then went to Wayne and Robin Burley’s dairy farm. After helping to bring the cows in we learnt about dairy farming and had a go at milking the cows and feeding the calves. Class 3 enjoyed some bush dancing and Grace’s family visited us one night to cook chestnuts with us.  It was great to see the children becoming more independent and resilient and building their strength as a group. I know they will step into their next camping challenge with enthusiasm.
Thanks to all of the support crew for making this camp successful. - Class 3 teacher, Julie

Save the Date Maintenance Day (Working Bee)...
On Sunday 23 May, between 09:00 AM to 01:00 PM, we will be hosting our Term 2 working bee. Participation on this day leads to the re-crediting of the $100 Maintenance Levy charged to families for Term 2. More importantly, it is an opportunity to come together as a Community and improve the campus for our children. Registration is necessary to allow us to plan the work and catering for lunch, and is also required for COVID-19 safety planning. Because of this, we ask that you register with Admin (admin@chrysalis.nsw.edu.au or 66558616) no later than Friday 14 May.

Class 2 Dorrigo Rainforest excursion...
We had an amazing time at the Dorrigo Rainforest. Tyler, who used to work with the school on camps, took us on an adventure from the Rainforest Centre to the Glade. We listened to bird calls and Gary told us what birds we could hear. Class 2 walked without saying a word, looking and listening to nature. What fun! Thank you to Gary and Tyler.

Class 6, 7 & 8 back in the surf...

It was great to have a glorious day for the students to get back in the surf to catch up on the surfing lessons they missed out on due to the floods at the end of Term 1.
Morning Star need Slippers...
Do you have an old pair of Sun Sole Slippers laying around from your child's Morning Star days? Paige is putting out the call, if you have an old pair of Sun Sole Slippers you would be happy to pass on to current Morning Star children, please send them into the Thora Campus office so they can be reused and keep our little Morning Star feet warm in the winter months!
