Next week I return to Parliament for Budget Week.

We must ensure that the next chapter of Australia is about building a nation where our economy works for all Australians and where all of our people, not just some of our people, have opportunities to thrive and prosper.

Australians can’t afford to return to pre-pandemic conditions of stagnant wages, insecure jobs and increased debt. The Government's real test is whether next week’s Budget lays out a credible plan to help people get ahead and build a better future for themselves.

Following Budget Week I will send out a special Newsletter breaking down the Budget and showing how it affects you and your family.

COVID-19 Case

NSW Health have been notified of a positive case of COVID-19. The person visited Barbeques Galore in Casula on Saturday 1 May, from 4pm – 5pm.

If you were at the store please get tested and self-isolate until you receive a negative test result.

New Restrictions for Greater Sydney

Following yesterday's confirmed COVID-19 case in Sydney, the NSW Government has announced the following restrictions for Greater Sydney.

From 5:00pm today to 12:00am on Monday:

• No more than 20 guests (including children) to gather in a household
• Masks compulsory on public transport and in public indoor venues including retail, theatres, hospitals and aged care facilities
• Front of house hospitality staff must wear face masks
• Drinking while standing in indoor venues is not allowed
• Singing by audiences at indoor shows or at indoor worship is not allowed
• Dancing is not allowed in indoor hospitality venues or clubs, except for at weddings where it's recommended no more than 20 people are on a dancefloor at one time
• Visitors to aged care facilities must be limited to two people

Vaccinations

From 3 May 2021: people 50 years and over can receive the AstraZeneca vaccine at Commonwealth vaccination clinics, state and territory vaccination clinics, and select general practices.

From 17 May 2021: people 50 years and over can receive the AstraZeneca vaccine at any participating general practice.

You can check you eligibility and find an appointment near you using the eligibility checker.

Fairfield Youth Achievement Awards

Nominations are now open for the 2021 Fairfield City's Youth Achievement Awards.

If you know a young person who is a champion in leadership, passion, commitment and enthusiasm in the Fairfield City Local Government Area, consider nominating them for the award.

Photographer Program

Fairfield City Council are looking to appoint their first City photographer for the 2021 Fairfield City Photographer program. It will involve documenting Fairfield City's history that will feature in Fairfield City Heritage Collection website, and in library branches as part of an exhibition later in the year.

If you have experience in photography, or know somebody that does, this is a great opportunity as well as a fantastic way to support the community.

No Health Worker Parking Tax

NSW Labor are calling on residents to sign their petition about the State Government's plans to introduce a parking tax for front-line health workers.

Health workers have been at the front-line of NSW's ongoing response to the COVID-19 Pandemic and do not deserve to be slapped with a new parking tax of more than $1,000 a year just to go to work.
