James Street Precinct

What’s your vision for the James Street Cultural Precinct? The area is poised to become a cultural, tourism and historical hub for Esperance – but we need your ideas.

The second phase of consultation into the proposed James Street Cultural Precinct is now open.

The consultation will gather feedback from the community and stakeholders via an online survey as well as group and one-on-one feedback sessions.

Here’s how you can have your say:
Survey - tell us what you like (and dislike) about the three options proposed.
Map - get those creative juices flowing! How would you like the area to look? We’ve given you the bits and bobs, now you can play with the different key elements to design and build your very own custom precinct
Community Chats - voice your ideas by attending a workshop. Check the Shire’s website for details.
Still confused? Does your local group or committee need some assistance? Email: trevor.ayers@esperance.wa.gov.au or call 9071 0644 for some hands-on help.
Consultation closes: 3 June 2021.

Leave your James Street Cultural Precinct feedback here.

Esperance Tourism Strategy Endorsed

At April’s Ordinary Council Meeting the Esperance Tourism Strategy was endorsed. The Strategy was  developed with input from various sources including extensive consultation with different stakeholders, and it includes a range of proposed actions.
So what’s the next step? Council, along with advice and support from Shire staff, will commence ranking  these actions and then implementing them – with tourism governance being the first priority. This is a very exciting step in further developing our local tourism industry across the whole of the shire.
More information and the full Tourism Strategy can be found here.

Thank you to everyone who participated in providing feedback via our CBD Urban Node Survey. We had a great response with over 300 people providing us responses to the questions that we asked.

So, what's the next step? Your feedback will now go to the Streetscape Council Committee where they’ll then make recommendations to Council on the future use of the Nodes.

Community members are actively encouraged to phone, email or message ideas, suggestions and concerns they have on services in our community. Click through HERE to see Current Consultations.
