Covid 19 Update

We ask that you apply a considerate and conservative approach to returning to the water, we have some windy days coming up so please check your kit, check yourself and check the conditions.

Waszp Rally - Saturday and Sunday.
Good luck to Adam Raeburn-James Fleet Captain who is hosting this event.
The winds will be a challenge but the competitors are all very excited.

Spring Series Club Racing

Start Time: 10:30

A few key points to highlight:

Sunday club racing starting at 1030. Two races back to back.
Sign on once per series using this link https://forms.gle/TPiqUC6wqCGfZDhC6
Courses will use the fixed marks and will have a start/finish gate.
Courses will be indicated on a whiteboard afloat, not using flags. They will also go on the Sunday RacingWhatsApp group and a board ashore.
Existing fleets are combined into 3 starts, with a course for starts 1 & 2 and a windward-leeward course for start 3.Starting sequence changed to add one minute between each 3-2-1 go sequence.
If you retire inform the Race Officer afloat or use WhatsApp ashore.

Wednesday Night Series starts
Michael Clapp is the Race Officer assisted by Rosie Dolling.
The start time is 7.30 pm.
Bucks Search and Rescue team are our Safety Coxswains.

Training this weekend

Discover Sailing Taster Sessions - Due to the high wind forecast, there are no sessions this weekend.
Powerboat Level 2 - We continue to run courses, you can check spaces and book here
Junior Beginner and improver groups on Saturday morning have a couple of spaces.
Datchet Youth Team - New for 2021. This session is full, spaces are available in June.
20 Knot Squad - This session is full, spaces are available in June.

This Girl Can / This Man Can
Wednesday evening 1830-2030
We are delighted to welcome back this girl & this man can session with the help of Liz Smallwood. These relaxed and informal sessions are aimed at getting you on the water and sailing as quickly as possible. These sessions are supervised by instructors and are a great way to learn a new skill or improve your skills and confidence.

2021 Club Racing Calendar & Duty Roster
The Club racing calendar is live on the club website.
The club Race Officers have all selected their dates and we are calling all race team to pick your duties. Please go to the members area of the website and pick your weekends. The Race Officers need your help.
The safety coxswain roster is also filling up if you would like to assist and learn the ropes of becoming a safety coxswain why not sign up as safety crew.

Duties are a key part of making Datchet Water Sailing Club run smoothly.
Our packed 2021 programme can only be successful if all members play their part.
