This week's sermon:
"Marks of True Friendship"
John 15:9-17
Rev. Russ Boyd preaching

This week we continue looking more closely at Jesus' farewell discourse to the disciples in the Gospel of John. Jesus describes what true friendship looks like, and invites us to practice that friendship as his disciples today.

We are thrilled that as Covid numbers remain lower in our community we are able to safely worship outdoors! Read below for more details.

Outdoor Worship

We will gather outside in the courtyard at 11:00 am. Chairs will be provided.

Please see our Covid Covenant for attending in-person events at Ridglea on our website.

There will be a nursery available in the parlor for children newborn to 4 years old. There will an outdoor pray-ground area in the courtyard available for any child. Kids can pick up a children's worship bag with lots of fun surprises! Outdoor Worship & Wonder for children age 3 - 2nd grade will meet outdoors in the memory garden and the playground. Children will depart for Worship & Wonder after the Children's Sermon.

Livestreamed Worship

Worship will be streamed live online at 11:00 am on YouTube and Facebook, and the stream will be screen shared on Zoom. (Note: Though we are able to share the stream on Zoom, the video and sound will be clearer on Facebook and YouTube.) After the service ends, it will be available to view any time on YouTube or Facebook. We are committed to making sure that everyone can worship together as one body of Christ wherever we are.

INA in our Learning Garden
We loved welcoming refugee and immigrant students from our partners at International Newcomers Academy to our Jubilee Community Garden this week!  Thanks students for helping us to grow fresh healthy food for our neighbors!
Welcoming a Refugee Family

Today, thanks to you, we are welcoming a refugee Congolese family of 7 to Fort Worth! You have spent the last 2 weeks buying items off the Amazon wish list, donating items from your house, sharing money to help to fill their fridge with groceries that will taste like home, setting up their apartments and welcoming them at the airport!  You have spent the last 2 weeks living out Jesus' call to us welcome the stranger and love our neighbor!  Thank you church for being the gospel in action!
Clergy Continuing Education
Over the next 2 weeks Russ & Allison will both be learning!

May 17-20 Allison will be at a conference with other Disciples pastors called, "What's Next: Congregational Ministry After Covid19: A Retreat for Collaborative Reflection and Creative Thinking" at Christmount Christian Assembly.  Keep her and other pastors participating in your prayers as they listen to each other and the spirit to see where God might be leading us next.

May 10-21 Russ will be completing his next level of military education as an Army Reserve chaplain, the Operational Religious Support Leaders Course. The class usually takes place at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, but due to Covid restrictions Russ will participate online from his office at church Monday - Friday over the next two weeks.

Moving help for the Rike Family

Cameron, Lea & Nathan Rike are moving into a new place and need help with the move! If you can help this Saturday, May 8 at 2:00 pm contact Russ at russ@ridgleachristian.org. Rike family, we are so excited about your new home!
